Headaches coming back?
Aug 1st, 2012 at 11:11pm

I suffer from clusters.... I have not had a major headache for  about 2 months. Question is..... Is it a cluster or is it something else? It feels like someone is " pinching" the side of my left  and right temple but I also have a post nasal drip.... The other evening I was awakened by a pounding headache felt like people were doing tapdances on my head also felt like someone was stabbing my head too.... I take imitrex injections and I take topamax. Real question is it a cluster or is it something else?? Do I need to see my doctor again??

Certainly you should discuss any major change with your doctor. It may well be "just" CH, but there's other more serious things that need to be ruled out.

Let us know how you get on. Really, we care.

I called the dr today spoke to the receptionist and she said let me pass this message along to the doctor needless to say she never passed the message to the doctor. Undecided  The doctor is nice but horrible, horrible when it comes to appointments, questions returning calls. I remember the last time I needed something refilled and needed a dr's approval and it still hadn't gone through and I called back and they said we are still going through other prescriptions and messages please give us time! Seriously?? I waited 2 more days and they somehow " forgot" about me...... Ugh.... This is going to be a real treat.... I would switch doctors but he is my only doctor in my network.   Guess it's back to the drawing board tommorrow..... Still have the headaches Sad In the meantime what should I do for relief??

For the CH, many of us swear by ice-packs (frozen peas are our friends) while a few jump into a boiling hot shower. I do both simultaneously figuring if I can't beat the bastage I'll at least confuse it enough to leave.

There's heaps of energy drinks like Red Bull which you can guzzle down at the first hint of a hit and lots of CHeads swear by it. Also consider Melatonin, an OTC med which helps many with the night-time monsters.

Good old Oxygen is, of course, our saviour. Getting it through official channels can be like chasing a greasy pig but your loyal countrymen can show you some beaut short-cuts.

It's a rollercoaster, darlin' but this ain't the time to get off.

Welcome home,

B.

Oh, just to add, please be incredibly suspicious of any opiate-type painkiller, even as just a short term measure.  There's been many a horror story here because of their use and remarkably little good news to balance it out.

Wink Good news doctor finally got back to me. They upped my meds ( topamax) they said if it doesn't work give us a call..... So hopefully ( knocks on wood) it'll work. I am also looking into melatonin.
