Need help with getting started on the Vit. Regimen
May 23rd, 2012 at 11:43am

Hey all, I've tried to get started with this before wiht batch's help but as I was about to start my headache specialist thought the regimen was bogus and totally reccomended against it and started prescribing me other medications.  For a couple of reasons I've decided to actually go through with it this time, The results and feedback are just too hard to ignore.  as of now Im taking basic painkillers, switching off between ibuprofen and acetaminophen.  All I need to know is how do I start the regimen and what I need to get tested for in my blood test.  I read over the original topic but I know it has changed a bit since then... any help would be greatly appreciated.

So what did this specialist prescribe you? You say you are alternating between ibuprofen and acetaminophen? That's going to do zilch against a cluster.

I only take 5000 UI of D3 daily and have yet to have a headache since starting. Batch would be the one to get a hold of for all the details. Good luck.

Very few Drs have any knowledge of nutrition at all.  They actually spend less time studying how proper nutrition can eliminate many of our health ailments.  Not all, obviously, but many of our problems are brought on by our eating habits.

My recommendation is to go back to the original post and take a look at the list of items Batch recommends, purchase them, and start taking them.  If you can get a blood test for Vit D3 good, but if your Dr doesn't want to cooperate start the regimen anyway.  You will not overdose if you follow the protocol as laid down in the thread on 123 days PF.  In fact, if it doesn't start working right away you may have to bump up your dosages somewhat, and then tell your Dr as a fait accompli to get you a blood test because you are treating yourself in a manner that has no bad side effects as opposed to the poison he wants to prescribe.  (Be a little more diplomatic. Wink )

Jerry

Edit to add:  Get rid of the over the counter pain killers.  One will rot your liver and the other will destroy your kidneys if you take enough to fool yourself into thinking you are getting relief.  If they are doing you any good you don't have CH.

Shalom Lior,

Good idea starting the anti-inflammatory regimen to control your CH safely and effectively by giving your body what it needs to heal itself...  Japanzman and Jerry are spot on with their comments.

I've updated the anti-inflammatory regimen with additional magnesium and added vitamin A as shown below:

Once you get your 25(OH)D into the green zone (60-110 ng/mL) and go pain free.  You should be able to lower the vitamin D3 dose to 75 IU/Kg/day.  For most of us that works out somewhere between 5000 to 10,000 IU/day

The new suggested regimen supplements and dosage includes:

10,000 IU/day Vitamin D3
  2,000 mg/day Omega 3 Fish Oil
  5,000 500 mg/day Calcium (calcium citrate preferred)

In order to receive the most health benefit from increased levels of vitamin D, the proper cofactors must be present in the body. Vitamin D has many cofactors, but the ones listed below are the most important. Magnesium should be considered the most important one of all.

Magnesium   400 mg/day  (liquid softgels, magnesium
                   citrate or magnesium gluconate preferred)

Vitamin K2    120 mcg/day - Men, 90 mcg/day - Women

Vitamin A      900 mcg (3,000 IU) for men and
700 mcg (2,333 IU) for women

Zinc               10 mg/day

Boron              1 mg/day

You can read about the vitamin D3 cofactors at the following link: Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

With the exception of vitamin D3 dose which is higher than the Institute of Medicine suggests, all the other supplements and dosages listed in this regimen are at or below the recommended dietary allowance (RDA).

Take care and please keep us posted.

V/R, Batch

You love lots of things if you live around them. But there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, that’s as lovely as a great airplane. If it's a beautiful fighter, your heart will be ever there

Hey guys, thanks against the quick replies.  So my doctor has been very cooperative and has given me the green light.  I've bought the fish oil and have started taking 2000 aday in the morning (Alaskan salmon to be exact, love the taste it gives me throughout the day XD) but apparently in Israel ( where I live) the department of health has banned vitamin D3 pills over 400 iu for unknown reasons.  Luckily July 9th ill be returning to the states for summer vacation so I'll buy a whole stock then.  So I'll have to start it then.  I will definately keep you updated as soon as I'm able to start there regimen, thanks a bunch
