Neuro prescribed O2...finally!
Feb 2nd, 2012 at 4:54pm

Thank you everybody on here. I have read and read and read, and printed and printed and printed, and finally got enough information that my Neuro prescribed me 15lpm via non-rebreather as needed for CH.

He also gave me Imitrex Injections and Topamax, scared of the dopamax side effects, but am so happy about the O2. I've tried it before, at 8lpm and it did nothing, which is why my neuro didn't want to prescribe it again, but the science and knowledge i brought (thanks to this site) convinced him to give it a go!

Now i just have to get my set up and get going!!

Just wanted to say thanks to this wonderful site and all you wonderful people.

PFDAN to all

-Matt

So i'm a little confused about one thing in all the reading.

Will i be able to purchase additional equip to get the flow rate above 15lpm if i need it? I wasn't sure if it was different RX i need for higher flow rates, or if i just needed the RX and i can after-market it myself.

Thanks BB,  Grin can't wait to set up and knock some beasts out

Welding o2 regulator at Harbor Freight Tools.

They have locations in Arkansas and are available for pickup same day, $35 bucks.

That's great news. Oxygen has been the biggest game changer for me in my 33 year battle with El Beasto. On cycle I'm never more then a few feet away from my little green E-Tank friend. Remember the keys:

Get on it as soon as you feel the tension and itching starting in your head. Avoid that denial phase we're all prone to in the first few minutes of an attack. Wink The faster the 02 gets started, the faster you'll abort it.

Hyper ventilate the first few minutes then you can slow down. It's hard work to breathe that hard for several minutes, but will speed your abort.

Stay on it for several minutes after the pain is gone.

Hoping it proves the miracle for you it's been for me.

Joe

That was another thing i wanted to know, and you answered before i even had to ask. Didn't know if i had to wait to make sure it wasn't a fake one, but then though who really cares if it is? O2 isn't going to hurt me, might as well stop anything resembling a CH!

Hey Matt,

Using oxygen therapy to abort your CH at 15 liters/minute all the way up to 40 liters/minute and above is very safe...  Safer in fact, than all the rest of the med's you were prescribed for your CH...

Oxygen therapy also the least expensive abortive in terms of cost per abort and you can use it as many times a day or night as needed without any fear of overuse...

Take care and please keep us posted.

V/R, Batch

You love lots of things if you live around them. But there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, that’s as lovely as a great airplane. If it's a beautiful fighter, your heart will be ever there
