A request...
Dec 22nd, 2011 at 10:51am

To those of you who pray.   Two years ago, I told you of my sister's husband, Tom, a Vietnam vet and retired police officer, who had been put on the heart transplant list.

Yesterday, his heart stopped beating 12 times.  Doctors worked from 7 till 11 to get it going again.  Today he is on a respirator.  His kidneys have failed and there is concern that he no longer has any brain function.

My heart breaks for my sister and her children, young adults who still need their dad.  If you could remember them in your prayers, I would be grateful.  Please just ask that God be with them and comfort them in whatever the outcome may be.

Love,

Jeannie

Thank you all.  I appreciate it more than you know.

I just heard from my sister.   Tom's brain is damaged and they believe that he will no longer benefit from a new heart.  He is being removed from the list.   Now the decision needs to be made whether to keep him on life support or not.

Thank you again for your prayers.

My heart aches for anyone having to make this decision.  Having been there I can't imagine anything being harder.  God bless them.

My sister, Sandy, made the decision to let Tom go.  He died peacefully, last night, surrounded by his family and many friends.  As he had been awaiting a new heart, Sandy found it fitting that she donate his corneas and skin tissue to others who need a miracle of their own.   This donation will help two blind people regain their sight and will benefit burn victims and even women who have undergone mastectomy surgery.

Thank you all, again, for your love, prayers and support.

Jeannie
