I believe you posted something very similar last year Sanna. That were disappointed that your MOTHER wouldn't allow you to have a tree.

Not trying to stir up anything here...but LORD...you are a married woman now Sanna. Why does your Mother have the power over you to say you will or will not have a Christmas tree???????????????????

Your husband not wanting to let you have a tree..hmmm. How about what YOU want ??? Like I said, not trying to stir up anything but this made me angry ( For you) last year and this year I'm just seeing some red flags.

You indicated YOU wanted a tree. Go get one girl. Put some lights on it, decorate it with Finnish ornaments, pine cones, berries, popcorn strings and have fun with it. Turn on some Christmas music while you decorate. Have some cider or hot chocolate when you're done.

Sanna you deserve to have what you want too, you know? If this hurt any of them, that would be a different story. A Christmas tree has never hurt anyone.

Stick up for yourself sweetie. Obviously no one else will if YOU don't. I'm counting on you Sanna, don't let yourself down. YOU HEAR ME???????????? Kiss

Linda & Mel,

My mother's house is the place where we'll be celebrating Christmas, so that's the place to put the tree. It is not about controlling me, but about her controlling her own house.

She believes that there's no room for a tree when 10 people come over... I disagree, but it's her house.

And my husband is not that much of a Christmas person - what comes to decorating the house. Believe me, I've done my part placing all sorts of Christmas decorations all around our home!

I do admit that our living room is a bit busy, with a tree it would not work. But one day we'll be living in a bigger place, so then... Nothing can stop me. I just need to decide: plastic or real Christmas tree...? Wink

Thank you for taking care of me, but I'm fine. I just didn't think ahead with this flat; our balcony is waaay too small for a tree...

Joe was at breakfast the other day with his buddies and mentioned we got our tree up. One of them shared that he and his wife don't bother. Joe hassled him about how good it looks, how nice it makes the house smell, etc.

So the guys sent him a picture later saying, ok I put up the stupid tree and it smells great. He hung an air freshener that is green and in the shape of a tree in his house.

Pitiful!

You seem to have Lumi ja Nuppu all figured out! Grin

(Not that we would ever believe that Lumi is the nice one, she's actually quite naughty little guinea pig, but anyway. Wink

)

They don't know it yet, but I bought them a special gift this year: a tunnel they CAN eat. It's made of hay and eatable herbs.

If we'd have our own Christmas tree, I'd cut a few small branches and give them to Lumi and Nuppu. Guinea pigs love those!

By the way, I sort of have a tree now. It belongs to our building and stands proudly outside, next to our building. That's a gift to all of us residents from our building manager. We get that every year. It doesn't have any ornaments, just the fairy lights. But looks nice during the dark hours of the day. And let's face it: this time of the year, it's most of the time! Grin

And I did make a deal with my husband: when we live in that bigger place (if I know my husband, we're moving around this time next year), we will have that Christmas tree in our home.
