Lucky with Verapamil.............. Perhaps
Aug 13th, 2010 at 5:56pm

Having enjoyed (NOT) Cluster Headaches for the past 3 years and finally finding comfort in Verapamil and the odd triptin , it finally proved its use.

Now at 44 I have been diagnosed with laryngeal cancer.

My own fault, due to smoking and no doubt drinking like a fish.   I'm Scottish.  Fried Mars Bars anyone.

However my blood pressure is just diddly dandy due to the Verapamil, which means that I can get operated on immediately.

Swings and Roundabouts I suppose.

Mind you, having lived with the immediacy of the undiagnosed CH agony a slow morphined phase out does not look so bad.

I feel that I should also add.

Despite my partner supporting me through the CH and now the Cancer thing, I have been an utter selfish self absorbed arse.

Last night, he said to me as follows:

"I understand your fears, however you are the most pessimistic, the glass is not only half full, it is positively empty, dirty and chipped " bugger I have ever met.

In relating to that comment I agreed entirely.

In all of my 44.7 years on this dirt ball, I have rarely experienced joy; excitement; fun etc.

Most of it has been, my parents misery with my Prader Willi syndrome sister since 1971,
my ex screwing me for a small fortune including house, I paid for.
My CH making life an abject pointless misery, and now Cancer bumping me off.

I again revert back to know doubt what will be my epitaph.

"What is Life.

A sexually transmitted disease with a 100% mortality rate.

Hi all.

Thank you for responding.

Isn't it awful, but also wonderful that on personal human dilemmas
this medium allows this type of interaction to exist, albeit digitally and not
face to face.

I thank you all for your advice and help.

I have to go and take my meds at the moment.

I will try to keep you advised as to  my progress or not.

Regards.

Derek..
