Just curious if anyone has heard of this place or knowledge of them??

I just spent close to an hour talking to them and they are claiming an 82% success rate, which means either completely headache free or OTC such as tynlenol to control pain.

He is a surgeon.......so he views all problems from a surgical perspective. Surgery is risky, thus far has a dismal track record, and the potential side effects include nerve damage, facial paralysis and a good chance of still suffering the same pain.

Certainly worth having a long sit down talk with them to see what it is they have to offer. But with so many of the traditional treatments, and the "alternative" treatments enjoying the huge degree of success that they are, I'd want to exhaust ALL potential remedies before letting someone cut on me.

Life is more difficult for the consumer since medicine has begun to develop aspects of any competitive business. We are simply not in a position to evaluate the claims for "cures" which are coming from a "profit center".

You should not have any problems finding a couple of good headache docs with whom to discuss your situation. Become aware of your options before making a commitment.

LOCATING HEADACHE SPECIALIST

1. Search the OUCH site (button on left) for a list of recommended M.D.s.

2. Yellow Pages phone book: look for "Headache Clinics" in the M.D. section and look under "neurologist" where some docs will list speciality areas of practice.

3. Call your hospital/medical center. They often have an office to assist in finding a physician. You may have to ask for the social worker/patient advocate.

Look for "Physician Finder" search box. They will send a list of M.D.s for your state.I suggest using this source for several reasons: first, we have read several messages from people who, even seeing neurologists, are unhappy with the quality of care and ATTITUDES they have encountered; second, the clinical director of the Jefferson (Philadelphia) Headache Clinic said, in late 1999, that upwards of 40%+ of U.S. doctors have poor training in treating headache and/or hold attitudes about headache ("hysterical female disorder") which block them from sympathetic and effective work with the patient; third, it's necessary to find a doctor who has experience, skill, and a set of attitudes which give hope of success. This is the best method I know of to find such a physician.

NEW certification program for "Headache Medicine" by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties, an independent, non-profit, professional medical organization.
Since this is a new program, the initial listing is limited and so it should be checked each time you have an interest in locating a headache doctor.

they said they are not cutting or desensitizing any nerves, so there should be no numbness. that they have found people who respond to occipial nerve blocks are canditates for this procedure, that what they do is free the nerves at the base of the skull, still researching this and such. thanks for the feedback!

Sorry to post again, was wondering if anyone has seem Dr Tarvez Tucker?? I guess she was head of the University of Kentucky headache clinic,. She actually just moved in next to us, I have met her, seemed very nice, I may call her this evening and get her take on this as well as she did offer to help with ideas for treatment, she is no longer seeing patients since she is doing a fellowship.
