Anyone hear of or try sumavel dosepro?
Jul 13th, 2010 at 7:54am

I recently went to my doctor’s office for a regular visit.  While there, he showed me your new needle free delivery system and gave me a sample.  He also gave me a $35.00 off card as well as a prescription.

When I went to fill the script, I found that United Health doesn’t cover it.  I was more amazed to find that 6 doses would have cost me $ 1,000.00.  Seeing that sometimes I need an abortive medicine once or twice a day, this was a no brainer. I cannot afford it.  Thanks for nothing.

Sumavel dosepro is a needleless sumatriptan injection. You're paying for the technology, not the med. This has come up before on this site, and if you search the term the posts might still be available. Have you tried imitrex injections? They are usually covered by insurance although at a restricted monthly limit. lance

I was also given a sample the last time I went to the Dr.  But I haven't tried using it yet.
I didn't even bother to check if my insurance would cover it.

My new neuro gave me two samples with that same coupon at the begining of this cycle. 2 things. When I openbed the sample it said. "For demo puroposes only contains no medication"!!!! When I went to get the presciption for it filled my isurance said....umm..no!

Went back to the Imitrex injectors (the new generic version) which still work like magic.

"Somebody had to say it" is usually a piss poor excuse to be mean.

Glad I read the post.  Looked it up and my insurance doesn't cover it either!
I guess I would have learned the hard way.

No I've never heard of it, but I have United Healthcare too and I'm not too surprised.  I have been using the Zomig nasal spray as an abortive when needed and it has been great.
