how to go about getting an oxygen tank and usingit
Jun 1st, 2010 at 10:38pm

I am new to this site.  I have been dealing with chronic cluster headaches. I was diagnosed 3 years ago I have tried almost everything under the sun and nothing has worked. i was about the oxygen and was wondering how do i go about that situation as far as getting one and the process of it.  I don't have insurance and i don't mind buying one i just need to know how much it is and do you have to pay for refills and how much they were.  I just really need someone to just simply explain the whole process if you wouldn't mind.  I appreciate everyone's time.  Thank you Jessica  Cheesy

You need a prescription for medical O2 (oxygen) and the proper equipment. Some people use welders O2, it's the same O2, no Rx needed, but you still need a nonrebreather mask with a bag on it, and a regulator that goes to at least 15lpm.

Please read the info in the link below.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of the Beast , I  have O2 so I fear him not.

Jessica,

I don't have insurance either but I have had some luck working with an 02 company called lincare. See if you have a local office and you can get some price quotes but you will need a script. Good luck.

Do read the oxygen info link as it will hopefully answer many of your questions.

For years my insurance company would not cover my 02. I rented E tanks from a local medical supply company. They charged me $4.25 a month to rent the tanks. Then I would go back with my empties and they charged about $12-$13 dollars for each tank refill.

Once you get the tank you need a regulator....which you can rent or buy. I see them regularly on E-bay, my wife recently picked me up a spare off of E-bay. Then just a non re breather mask.

02 has totally changed my approach to CH. Hope it does the same for you.

Joe

you can go to ebay and buy regulators and tanks. I been lookin at em all day. regulators are cheap, but like the gent. before me said, it has to flow at least 15 lpm. 25 lpm is even better. I used o2 for the first time the other nite, and I'm hooked. Wink Aborted in about 5-10 min.

Joe,

I couldn't agree more, 02 completely changed my life. I think back to the 5 years I lived without it and I wonder how I did it.

Mind elaborating? This tells us nothing. We'd love to help, but one thing we don't do is read minds.

Skull, I hear you on that!  I had an "M" tank sitting in my basement since last December waiting to be used for the next cycle.  Well, this cycle started last Sunday (6/6) and the O2 aborted 100% of my clusters.  This is my first cycle using O2.  That's pretty remarkable considering Imitrex injections we're about 85% over the years.  I think the rc seeds made the rest easy.

I'm super happy it's working for you  Smiley
