Fram,

Asking him if he is a doctor is a legit question.  I might respect his replies more if he was.  It may have came across disrespectful, but really, I just wanted to know.

Read my post a few posts ago.  Knowing who DJ is should be enough to afford him the most respect you have.  Doctor or not, he has earned all our respect for MANY reasons.

If you need to know more, ask around.  You will learn.  Until then, he deserves your respect because when you post here, you are posting in HIS house.

Just some friendly advice.

Add me to that list also.  Just WOW!!!!

Something else that really tickles me is someone actually believing... that just because someone has a computer and can type that he is a pharmacist ...actually makes it true.    Roll Eyes

A polite warning to the well intentioned newer people on this board, concerned with our treatment of head stand boy. This happens a lot.

A person will show up, post something guaranteed to raise a ruckus, act angry when it does, and then leave in a huff. NEWSFLASH!!!!!! They're not for real. They go to forums such as ours specifically to raise hell and then leave. I affectionately call them 2 and done posters. One post to start trouble...one for his or her grand exit.

Please don't cry tears about how now they'll never get any help. If they really want help, they can read to their hearts content. We specifically DO NOT require membership to visit and access all the info on our board. He can always re register under a whole new name and start again....if he is for real.....which I still very much doubt.

That being said, those of us who have been here a while will always call BS when these 2 and done posters show up with their off the wall remedies. The one in a million chane it will work is not worth the number of people it will send down the wrong road. To further relieve your worry, our "pharmacist" has been regularly visiting the board to keep an eye on all the rukus he caused.....they like to do that, it's like how arsonists always come back to watch the fire they set!

So with that being said, let's get back to helping REAL people, in REAL pain with REAL solutions. It's what we do between dealing with people like head stand boy.

Joe

This never occurred to me!  Wow, do people really do that?  Might have had my hubbies "tightie whities" on yesterday!  For sure I am in learn & "dose" mode.

I so miss my sense of humor....I think it is still around somewhere in the  "Dark Shadows" (which happened to be my favorite tv show as a young girl and to me that is ironic!)

Sorry to have been pissy  Wink

Apology accepted but no need to. The first time somebody explained to me what an internet Troll was I was dumbfounded. The thought that someone would devote their lives to being that big a turd was mind boggling! Grin Live and learn I guess!

1961 Mom, I saw your post and almost jumped in on your side on it, lucky for me (ha ha) i got an attack and had to jump on the 02. When I returned I read all of the posts about assholes who do this stuff and I breathed a sigh of relief I didn't jump into defending this guy. I am new to all of this posting and such and never thought that people would do that kind of thing, but now you and I are both better educated by those who have come before us so please don't feel badly, you almost had me for company.

Really?  You'd respect a doctor more than a person who actually has suffered from CH?

I don't know what sort of doctors you've seen but my experience (10+ yrs undiagnosed) certainly left me wanting/suffering!

Also 1961mom don't worry, you're certainly not the first person to get sucked in by a troll!  I did that when I first came here and got into a fight with Jonny.  I still blush about that  Tongue

ANYONE who disrespects DJ around here is in deep crap.  He is a sufferer, this is his home, he pays the bills around here, and he has earned our respect.

Just for starting this site more than a decade ago where people could come for support and information, has saved many many lives where folks were just about to do the unthinkable because they thought they were alone.

You don't mess with DJ cause you'll have a whole slew of people banning your ass right quick.  I will be the first.   Angry Angry Angry

DJ had my respect from the moment I found this site. I don't know him from Adam but any one who would goto the trouble of setting up a site like this , with the sole intention of helping fellow sufferers , can only be a saint sent from God Himself.

Respect dude  Cool

No big thing, and no need to apologize.   Wink  We tend to get a little protective of the members here, especially the new ones.

That's the bottom line--no one wants to see people suffer unnecessary pain chasing some nonsense cure.  This one wasn't so awful (I'd imagine it would hurt like hell).  But some of the ones we've seen proposed by some random yahoo from the wilderness of the internet could be downright harmful--colloidal silver, and methampetamine come to mind.  (Yes--we've actually had posters who advocated meth as a treatment.)

Best,

George

dj who?

hell i don't know guys, what kinda crazy shit have we done to stop a screamer?
thus far i have:

-slept in a 3 fold lawn chair on the front porch in a sleeping bag in the dead cold of january.

-ripped off my clothes like american werewolf in london and ran through the snow in my boxers.

-ran good friends out of bed at 3.a.m to score a small bottle of o2

-stayed up for days chopping and chainsawing wood in absolute fear of relaxing.

-poured  ice water over my head and sat out in the cold until my hair froze.

-one of our beloved brains on the board claimed that putting an ice cube on his bald head confusing  his brain into thinking his body is freezing to death, this concentrates  blood flow to the main part of the body and away from your arms, your legs and your head thus stopping an attack.

the list goes on and on.

perhaps rich tried several things at one time and thought standing on his head was the key.

maybe he had his head in the snow while he was standing on it.

in any case we've all weighed in on the "standing on your head theory"

i for one vouch for the " running through the snow in your underwear" theory. no bullshit it has worked.  Wink

The one thing that occurs during ANY abortive treatment that any of us try - and that very few seem to give any credence to - is the passage of time.

Don't we all tell others that these attacks can last anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 hours (or thereabouts)?

I just ___________ (fill in the blank with your favorite remedy, like "put a pinch of bat guano between my cheek and gum"), and 15 minutes later, it's gone.

True that Brew, before I was diagnosed and didn't know what the hell was going on anything that made it end was the "answer". Mine was standing perfectly still with my back pressed flat against a wall and moaning, crying, and then screaming instead of my first method which was banging my head against my hardwood floor. It "made" them end and no bruises on my forehead.

Tried bat guano. Didn't work at first, but then aborted the attack after chewing it while doing a headstand.

2 Tylenol, rock in fetal position and scratch the bejezeesus out of my scalp on the left side while I wait for my mom to say I could take two more Tylenol while screaming, "It's not a headache, MOM, it's an eyeache!"
