I know everyone is different, but I was wondering if certain foods or drinks tend to trigger attacks more then others.

I have not found any food to be triggers, however, letting myself get really hungry while in cycle is just as bad as drinking alcohol for me.

We bat this question around here from time to time but nothing seems to stick except for alcohol, and that  when you are in an active period.

The single exception to alcohol was a study out of Europe, some years ago, which identified distilled spirits and red wine as triggers--but not white wine. A couple of folks, here, have confirmed this has been their experience.

Much of the food material comes from the migraine crowd where, I gather, this may be more important.

I'm allergic to some things and eating those are a trigger for me, but I'm certain the issue is the allergy & not the food per se.  Sulfates (like on non organic grapes and wine, and certain antibiotics) and wheat (even in minute amounts like caramel coloring or modified food starch) are both triggers for me.  Organic wine seems to be fine.

Don't necessarily assume that it's the chocolate in the cupcakes that triggers an attack. There's very little chocolate in a Hostess cupcake. There IS a whole lot of other crap.

But they are delicious, aren't they? Wink

artificial sweeteners I "Think" caused one of mine a couple weeks ago. It was bad enough that I will never drink sweet n low while I'm in cycle again. And yes. one sip of beer for me is suicide

I find that when in cycle, I cannot touch any Middle Eastern food. Probably fue to the spices it contains. But that is a certain trigger to a mother of a hit every time.

Really strong cheap perfume. I had to get up at a lunch the other day and move seats, my eye started twitching and my nose started running.

This is true for me too!  I firmly believe timing is everything whilst enduring and hopefully quelling another cycle.  Sleeping, Eating and supplementing with melatonin and other vitamins are all things I try to do at the same time each day.  And for me, this has helped immensely Smiley

I think food triggers are individualized to the clusterhead. For me, ice cream (almost always chocolate, but I think its the brain freeze that can kick one off) and licorice. Funny how these things work. Tongue
