Varapamil and Tavist

Hello!

New to the site, I've been suffering from CH for about 9 years.  I was headache free for about a year then once I moved to Texas in April they started coming back.  During that time I was also having trouble with allergies so I'm guessing that maybe something in the air is the trigger.  I can't remember during what season they started last time, but has anyone else noticed them starting up around spring time?

So finally after all this and dealing with 4-5 headaches a day I decided to go see a neurologist.  She gave me verapamil and imitrex nasal spray.  I tried the imitrex because it had worked in the past and it worked withing 5 minutes, but it came back about an hour later and it was a really bad episode.  So I have decided to stay away from imitrex due to rebound headaches.  Shorty after taking the verapamil I also started taking an OTC allergy medicine called Tavist.  Within 2 days I was headache free.  I ran out of Tavist 3 days ago and I was still doing ok, but this morning when I woke up I had another headache although I am still on verapamil, so I am assuming that something in Tavist was helping the headaches.  Has anyone else had this result? And if not I would recommend you try it!

What Potter said! Wink

Some have used various allergy meds with varying degrees of success. But oxygen, I'm 50, have had CH about 31 years, nothing comes close to the success rate of huffing pure 02. Read the link he gave you and check it out. Cheap, no "rebound attacks" and incredibly effective for many on the board.

"Somebody had to say it" is usually a piss poor excuse to be mean.

I'll stick with my 02.

If you are still on Verapamil..that would be the reason you're doing better I would think.
