Anyone with similar experiences
May 27th, 2010 at 5:39pm

Hi ppl, since i found this board i started to approach my ch hits on a different way and learned how to use the o2 as an abbortive..
What brought me here was the fact that on the entire board i  didnt found a similar experience as mine,in the last 5-6 years since i had ch (usually 1 cycle a year) only in the last 2years since i began using o2 as an abbortive i experienced this, everytime my cycle starts 2-3 days of o2 ends my cycle...Any1 here had this happen?

And other thing i dunno if this are shadows or not,but usually beetween cycles i feel my forehead funny, dunno how to call it really, cause its not painfull just an annoiance, are this the so called SHADOWS u guys talk about here on board?

I dont take any meds also, could any meds help me with this forehead feeling like vasodilatators or similar?

Cluster headache pain is a unique pain unlike say a normal headache or a cut or a bump on the head. Cluster sufferers just know “that feeling”. Shadows are “that feeling” that may be short lived or last an hour. It’s that dreaded feeling that “Oh no, here it comes” but just doesn’t quite mature into a full blown CH attack.

No, I haven't had this happen, nor have I heard of it happening.  Odd.  Coincidence?  I can't think how oxygen could act as any sort of preventive.

What you're describing sounds like it might be low-grade shadows.  You might try drinking some coffee or something with a good amount of caffeine in it (an energy drink) to see if that helps.

Best wishes,

George

That doesn't sound like a shadow symptom to me.

If my shadows are typical, they feel like a CH at the beginning stages of an attack - not extremely painful yet.

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

I've never heard of oxygen being able to end a cycle either, but I will say this:
This was the first year I used o2 in combination with a medication called Maxalt MLT and the headaches were shorter, quiite a bit less severe, and the cycle appears to have ended earlier than usual.
Of course, like everyone else's CH, this could be atrributed to any one of a myriad of things so I have no way to tell if o2 was responsible for the slightly shorter CH period.
Just my 2 cents...
