Red Bull "Energy Shots"
May 16th, 2010 at 6:28pm

Not sure if this is available in the US, but I discovered Red Bull "Energy Shots" in Germany. Essentially a small 60 ml can of red bull "on steroids".

Was traveling without access to O2 and was woken up at night by what I know was going to be a high kip level attack and popped one to try. Within less than 90 secs. the attack was complete history.

It contains 1000mg Taurine and 80mg caffeine and seemingly works a lot faster than the regular red bull. Also, its great not having to drink that much liquid (given that almost all energy drinks are an acquired taste).

Never had such a quick abort with anything including O2 or Trex.

Have not seen them but will start looking....sugar free Red Bull is my "drink of choice" but it's still a lot of fluid to knock back in a hurry.

Anyone have an opinion on how many is too many?  And how to get them to not kill your stomach?

Once you start to see God, you'll know you've gone beyond the limit.

Seriously, most recommend not going over two, sometimes three, per day.

In order to absorb them fast, it's best done on an empty stomach. But given the choice, I'll put up with a few gut cramps if it comes down to my stomach vs. my head.

Every treatment has side effects. You have a choice as to what's more tolerable.

I've seen these "shots" by a variety of manufacturers; most often at gas stations and "circle K-type" markets. Haven't tried them. Maybe a very good idea. Certainly worth looking into.

What is the protocol on the red bull, I just went to the store and there are three sizes. I bought the 8.4 fl oz sugar free red bull. Also do you drink them as you feel an attack coming on or do you just have them a couple times of day, sorry to butt into your thread but you seem to know what you are talking about and I am getting ready to detox off imitrex so I can try RC Seeds and anything that can help (already have 02) get me through would be freakin great. Thanks

I use something called 5 Hour Energy Drink. It's a lot smaller to carry arround with my E tank, and the two times I have had to use it, seemed to work as effectively. The Taurine to caffeine ratio (1000mg to 80mg minimum) seems to be more important than the liquid volume. I still have the full size cans at home, however. Don't want to rule out things that have worked until I know they won't work, or something else will work out just as well.

To David...I use the same size sugar free ones. Will often leave an open one in the fridge on cycle so it loses its fizz and I can down it faster.

I use them 2 ways. Away from 02 I'll chug one at the first sign of an attack. Often this will save me from having to use my precious...and expensive...imitrex shots.

If I'm home, as I fire off the 02 I drink one down, although when using it with the 02 I don't need to chug it. It seems to prevent the return attacks I sometimes suffer within 20 minutes of shutting off the 02....and I swear I get a faster abort using it with the 02. (NO medical studies to back that with! Wink)

The other use is for those annoying shadows. Pounding down a Red Bull will often chase those away too. Damned useful stuff it is!

Joe

Useful indeed.  Until you realized that you have had four cans and are bouncing off the walls.  LOL

Tried it last night for the first time, didn't do much on the initial attack but only had a mild one around 10:30 which the 02 kicked to the ground pdq. Had another attack at 12:30 today chugged and then sucked (02 that is) again didn't ease that attack but no shadows so far this afternoon.
PS: didn't fall asleep till 1am last night, but no nocturnals so that is a plus. Grin

Monster Hitman shooters are at Walmart.  They also have some others but these are so easy down and work fairly fast for me.
