Clusters, round 3
Apr 10th, 2010 at 11:42pm

Here I am, afraid of my own body once again.
My current cycle started on Monday night, and I've had 4 to 6 attacks a day since then. I'm physically exhausted from 5 days of being afraid to sleep, because we all know how much the demon loves to ruin sleep. I'm mentally drained from the constant fear of "When is the next attack going to come?"

I haven't left the house in days, because I'm terrified that as soon as I do I'll get hit and not be near my O2 tank and the only relief I've found thus far. I can't imagine anything that could possibly feel worse, and yet I've only been to K7 or 8.

Oh look, here comes the next round. I'll be back after I gas up, hopefully a second dosing will work for more than 10 minutes.

Keep up the fight!

What, other than O2, do you take?

You've overstayed your welcome since the day we met but it doesn't seem to matter to you.  No medications are your master, nothing makes you fret, it's a helpless feeling having nothing I can do

Ok, not that I can sit still long enough to type.

I'm currently taking
Methergine Lyrica  Risperidone Maxalt-MLT Sumavel and O2 for Clusters.

I also take Ambien and Prozac for depression.

Try staying on the o2 a little bit longer.  I made the mistake of shutting off the tank as soon as the headache was gone, only to get hit again right away.  Once I started staying on the o2 at a lower rate after the headache was gone, I had much better results.

Sorry to hear you are going another round.   Undecided

Strongly urge you to get to your doc for some meds changes. At the very least, a change of triptans is worth considering and a high dose of one of the standard preventives.

Here is a link to read and print and take to your doctor.  It describes preventive, transitional, abortive and surgical treatments for CH. Written by one of the better headache docs in the U.S.  (2002)

I'm with Bob, look into the longer term prevents. Verapamil, Lithium and Topomax are the 3 I see a lot of people having success with. The tougher cases use Lithium and Verapamil together as a prevent.

Also, try drinking an energy drink as you start using the 02 to abort. I use sugar free Red Bull cuz the taste isn't too offensive, but any containing the combo of caffeine and taurine will work. I find it really delays that "come back" attack I seem prone to when I shut off the 02.

Wishing you some peace soon.

Joe

Hello

Don't take Prozac!!! It was trigger (I think for almost 100%) in two of my worst cycles!!!
(It was drug named Portal, generic or same drug like Prozac, works on level of serotonin).

PFDAN

I agree with everything said here, especially the link Bob gave you to the Michigan report. Reat it. Also, do you have an E tank (around 700L) for portability? I never go anywhere without mine. It won't last long at high flow rates, but it does allow you to get out without fear of not being near O2. Whenever I go to someplace unfamiliar, I make sure my O2 is nearby and in a rather private place, like my car or some side room. There are other methods to try for prevtative care and the Michigan report spells out most of them. Blessings, wimsey1 Undecided
