So when can you say it's officially over?!
Apr 9th, 2010 at 11:36am

So I'm just curious, my normal cycle in the past (only 2 other times) has been between 4-6 weeks. Sunday marks the end of week 4, and god help me if I'm jinxing myself, but it's been three full days now without any sort of attack. When is it too early to say things have settled?! God forbid I go have a drink to celebrate and it causes remission!!!

TIA!

Mike

Excellent question! I declared my cycle officially over Mid March, went off my lithium, and got creamed! Not really a science to it. 2 weeks pain free is when I start ramping off my prevent, but keep the oxygen close by in case you're as wrong as i was!

Same as Joe here. 2 weeks PF is a good time to start testing if you can taper down prevents...slowly.

I don't know, but congrats on the pain free days.  Take them as a blessing and move slowly.   Roll Eyes

I know my cycle is over when I can take an drink a beer, and take a nap while on a cross country flight.
Those are my 3 biggest triggers.

Thanks guys, I'm going to give it another week, which will put it at about 12 days, then next Friday, oh beers will be had. That will be a good test. Want to play it safe, because the last time I had a few beers was the last horrible episode I had, when the O2 didn't abort.

Thanks again!

My cycle has been 4-6 weeks every 2 years for the past 20 years.  This cycle started in late Dec and I had a week of being pain free in mid Feb so I started tapering off the verapamil - then I got crushed.  It's now April and I'm still getting hit with shadows and some minor headaches.  Damn beast, just when you think you've got it figured out it goes and changes up on you.

My early cycles ended abruptly when I woke up and didnt have any type of morning headache.  Now, I have no idea.

Yes, enjoy those PF days.  I usually do the cheap beer test after a couple days PF.

There are people on this board who haven't been hit for 10, 15, even 20 years. They're still here, and they'll tell you it's not over. They even keep oxygen on hand.

In the words of one of the deepest philosophers of our time, Yogi Berra, "It ain't over 'til it's over."

We're all a bit different.  I've been episodic for a long time, and I can reliably say that, for me at least, if I've gone a week without a hit or a shadow, that that particular cycle is over.  The beer test tells the tale.

As for the thing itself, well....  I'm not holding my breath.  I only hope that I live longer than it does.   Tongue

Best,

George

I think "its not over" is something we need to better express to newbies.

I suppose it's possible it really ended and some folks walked off into the sunset all happy, but so far no one has reported that happy ending.

I just know i'm still mad at myself for thinking it was over and getting complacent and then the day it hit again i was digging through an old suitcase for an old overnight bag for one pouch to find a stash of T-rex I used to keep in there for when I travel. Not fun.
