MRI: Preliminary Report In Already
Apr 3rd, 2010 at 2:37pm

This was the finding: "Vascular Ectasia involving the right vertebral artery deforming the cervicomedullary junction". So, After much research, I sort of know what it means, and it's potentially not good. But, severity of the issue is not described. I assume it means more tests. I also don't know if it means anything to do with the CH symptoms. Any ideas?

I don't know if yours is severe enough to warrant surgery (if they even do surgery routinely for that).

Some conservative measures that might be in order include keeping your blood pressure low to reduce risk of a burst, keeping the blood 'thin' to avoid clots there, a low-inflammation diet and statins to keep that artery (and the rest of your arteries) clear of plaque, and taking things like glucosamine (can strengthen such tissues). But talk it over with your doc and do your own research first... those are just preliminary thoughts.

Probably nothing to worry about.  I had a similar finding, but after further review the radiologist said it was a "typical anomoly".  I don't know how an anomoly can by typical, but he said no one has "perfect" blood vessels.  We all have irregularities.  What they are looking for are those that are showing signs of failure.  Here's hoping that is all it is for you.

Thanks all. I suppose my only follow up concern that I will discuss with the doc, is that I've had about 7 MRI's between 2000 and 2006 and this never showed up before, which means it's a new "irregularity".  At least I'm on the right road with the meds and this message board to help me cope and recover.
