Occipital Nerve Stimulator Implant is a treatment for chronic sufferers, still in the research stage but has had success with a number of people. Electrodes are implanted in the occipital nerve attached to a battery pack (a bit like a pacemaker).  When pain starts the device is activated and the occipital nerve receives a jolt that stops the pain.  Dr Matharu's team have offered me the chance to have this but my Health Authority will not approve funding  - so near yet so far.   I am a chronic sufferer having an average of 7 to 10 episodes a day and only have the option of oxygen to abort.
