Feeling old and out of touch.
Oct 31st, 2009 at 6:27pm

Don’t know if it was my mother reminiscing or watching the latest edition of X factor.
I sat in my chair thinking
I remember when…

“Good god I sound like my granddad”

“I’m not past it”
“I can still do it”
“I’m hip” (is that what they say nowadays)
“I can boogie”

Upstairs I went and found after a good rummage that box of goodies only for the eyes of someone who believes

Hmm “these should fit”
Pulling up the purple, satin finished flared trousers,

“Come on you buggers nearly there”
“A nappy pin should do”
“Maybe two nappy pins together” (diaper for those that don’t know)
“If I pull down my top no one will ever know”

“Hang on”
“Cramp!!!!”
Bugger…Bugger…Bugger… ahhhhh.

“Need a sit down”
“In fact a lay down may be needed”
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Isn’t it funny how your height shrinks, your neck gets wider, the waist line erupts but the feet remain the same (apart from the odd bunion)
I can still get into those black and white platform shoes,
It’s just my hip and knee that won’t like it

“Where’s my slippers”

Cav, m'dear, I can relate!!!!

We've gone from the high energy of Saturday Night Fever, to the conservation of energy and Saturday Afternoon naps!
Take off the shiny purple flare-leg pants, pull on a pair of old comfy sweats and.......
ACT YOUR AGE!!!!!
Dinner's at 4......

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Miles into the Birth of Cool and a different time to Take Five turned a Blue Note to Satisfaction, Like a Rolling Stone into a Purple Haze.

Fun 'til it's done.  Well, even the Beatles broke up.  And so it was.

But today I'll wear favorite faded skin-tight jeans, untuck a poka-dot shirt, and get a haircut tomorrow instead.

Cathi.
I did take off the offending pants and sat lamenting what was.
I’ve always had a passion for the old Levis but recently the good wife tried sneakily to get me to wear an inferior pair.

“No one will ever know”

“But I will”

“Grandads don’t wear jeans”

“You want me to wear plus fours”

“No just these from the catalogue”
“They’re about a third of the price”

“Have I got to?”

(I’ve hidden them in the bottom drawer.)

Kevin
You’re lucky to think about a haircut.
I only think about how grey the stubble that was once a long flowing mane is.

The missus reckons it’s distinguished

“I love you what ever your faults”

????!!!
Not sure how to take that.
