Little update from me
Oct 21st, 2009 at 2:09am

Well, I haven't been on in a while, I haven't been doing too good health-wise.

I made it through my Grandfather's funeral services okay. It was after that problems began. Throat closing up due to my histamine intolerance and the stress triggering problems with it.

I began feeling pretty bad immidiately after, but it wasn't until about 2 weeks ago that I noticed something was really wrong. I thought my stomach where the tube my shunt leads to was swollen. Mom didn't really see it.

That Saturday, the pain in my back got so bad I had to go to the ER. Turns out, the tubing came out of place, moved underneath my skin, then pocketed itself off. The pain was due to the fluid backing up into my spine.

So, I have surgery on Friday to go in and fix this. I had been put on Diamox, a diuretic/anticonvulsant that was helping drain off the fluid. Weird side effect? I still had my clusters, same amount each day, same intensity, only my eye didn't shut.

I'll be stopping the Diamox after surgery so I'm expecting to go back to being one-eyed anytime I have a hit. It was nice to actually have the ability to use BOTH eyes during a hit.

We also got a puppy on Monday. She's a boxer / golden retriever mix. We named her Bella, and she's going to keep my aunt from going nuts while I have the surgery.

I hope you're all doing well, much love to you all.

As far as I'm concerned, cluster busting has been the best treatment I've tried. No migraines since I started it, and my hits have gotten so much better. Wanna know more?

Mystina - Been wondering how you've been faring. Now we know. Sure don't sound like a lot of fun. Encouraged that you had the energy to write, though.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers, now, in the time leading up to Friday, and beyond for a quick and full recovery.

Will be thinking of you on Friday and sending wishes across the miles that your recovery is a speedy one.

Give your new puppy a big hug for me, k?  Gotta love those little fur faces and their puppy breath.

Like Brew said, if there's anyone who deserves a break it's you!

All the luck in the world for your upcoming surgery and for your new furry friend.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support!

The surgery actually went fine, for once. My doctor got in, and found no infection, fixed me up, then got me out of there.

The only bad part of it was the pain afterwards, and when I woke up, I'm assuming due to the anesthesia I was crying for Papa. It took them giving me 4 shots of morphine to make the pain finally ease up.

Only problem I have now is it looks like the Diamox was actually helping the CH hits, and I stopped it after the surgery. So I'm waiting to hear from my headache specialist on what she wants me to do. If she wants me to re-start it, or if she'd like to try me on something else. I'm just glad that for now, the shunt problems are under control.

Bella has made this easier. Having her to look foreward to has helped me with this. I've got some pictures of her, but she's already grown since I've taken them! She gets into everything, but she's made me laugh and kept me company through this. She's curled up beside me right now to sleep.

I've given her a big hug from you, Cyn. Cheesy

Thank you all again, I appriciate all of the good thoughts and prayers.
