I'm looking into buying my o2 at a welding supply store..Its only $50 a year to lease the huge tank and $20 for a fillup. I've been trying to find info to ensure that the o2 quality is the same as medical grade before I get it though. Maybe something to look into. No script needed.

I dont know why this was moved from the General section where it would recieve more attention? General is General.

What other meds have been prescribed to you? If imitrex is one of them then Glaxo Smith Kline has a program designed to assist someone in your upcoming situation.

From what I can tell, lotsa people on here are getting their O2 from welding supply places as an inexpensive/no prescription required work around, and I've seen plenty of adamant reports that the O2 is the same quality that you'd get from a medical supplier.

I sure hope that could work for you, and really sorry to hear about the lousy hand of cards you've been dealt lately.

Something they wouldn't be doing at the Diamond clinic, but is being researched and tested with very good results by leading institutions such as Harvard medical school, Is the use of sub hallucinogenic doses of otherwise hallucinogenic substances such as psilocybin and Rivea Corymbosa.

Cluster heads haven't been waiting around for institutional research though, there are many who have tried these and report impressive results.

That's about all I know, I haven't researched the topic deeply lately myself, but if I was you I'd be seriously looking into this and searching this message board and maybe more importantly the old message board Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register for the subjects 'RC', 'Rivea Corymbosa', and 'mushrooms'. There is also supposed to be a sort of headquarters for this info over at clusterbusters.com.

One caveat: Last time I checked, the word was that you have to be off of triptans for awhile for these substances to work.

PS - an invaluable imitrex tip for getting twice the bang for your buck if you weren't aware of it yet:

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

First of all, I'm very sorry to hear of your tough times.

I just wanted to share what has worked for me...and it's very inexpensive. I have good insurance but I don't like the way I feel when on the usual presription drugs so I tried an alternative route with great success.
As you probably know, just about everyone with these things seems to react differently so I don't know if it will work for you but it may be worth a try. Maybe you already know about this stuff. Anyway...

Each morning I take 1 500mg capsule of Taurine and 1 "Natures Way" Kudzu root. Halfway through the day I take another Kudzu. Later in the day I take another Taurine and another Kudzu. At bedtime I take 9-12mg's of Melatonin. Plus I have O2 ready if needed. That's it!

This agenda has broken my last 2 cycles very well with NO side affects. I'm in cycle right now but CH free for about a week since I started my treatment (knocking on wood!!). I got all these pills from a local vitamin shop for about 20 bucks. Just my 2 cents. Like I said, might be worth a try.

PF times and much luck in the near future!!

I rarely ever go to general because I assumed it was for non-headache topics.  That's how it appears to me.

The quality of the O2 is the same. According to my medical O2 guy (who, BTW gets my welders tank filled and knows I use it for CH), they fill all the tanks (welding and medical) from the same storage tanks.

When I was uninsured I purchased a new tank (so I could be sure of the cleanliness of the tank itself) and have it filled when I need it. The tank cost about $100, and the refills are about $25. Well worth the price, IMO.

pf wishes, nani

This Economy Sucks and I hate to see it affecting a fellow CH'r like this.  My heart goes out to you stlstdn.

My advice is too look into the Welders Oxygen and try some over the counter herbals such as Kudzu and Melatonin (as a sleep aid) or if that doesn't work for you, an over the counter allergy pill such as Zyrtec aka generic form is cetirizine to help you sleep through the night without a CH hit.

You can get a couple of smaller tanks pre-filled with O2 here Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register if you have a few hundred bucks to spare.

Wishing you PF days and nights!

I've been using Kudzu now for a couple of years.  Used it to replace Verap and Lithium.  Better results and no side effects.  Was taking 4 a day, but increased to 6 (2x3) and have been without a hit over a K4 for three weeks with the exception of a day I missed taking them.  Got hit two days later, but only the one time.  I have O2 tanks sitting in the living room and the office at work, but have not used them in 4 weeks.  Not bad for a chronic! Cheesy

THANKS NANI!!!
