I can't believe this....
Sep 22nd, 2009 at 10:41pm

My Grandpa... Papa...died this morning. And we don't even know what caused it.

He wqas due to have surgery today on one carotid artery, but a judge ordered a autopsy because the cause of death wasn't clear...

He saw his doctor yesterday and my Mom said he was having trouble breathing and the doctor said he was FINE....

Next time he had better fucking think twice before making that diagnosis. I lost my Daddy, possibly the best person that I know in the world due to this.

I wish I could wake up from this nightmare... I don't know how I'm going to get through this. My 4 year old nephew was so heartbroken and asked me "Why did Papa leave us? Why did he die?"

And he donated his organs...but the questions they asked, my god. They wanted to know WHEN was the last time he'd had sex. If he'd had sex with a black woman, etc etc. We were like "We have NO idea, who the HELL would know that about their father? We don't follow him around, and we damn sure don't know his personal buisness."

He raised me because my own father wasn't here to raise me. We were called the ones who love each other so much club because of how close we were. I just wish I had more time with him...that my nephews had more time with him.

We couldn't convince him to go to the hospital last night, god knows we tried, but I should have dragged him out of the house, called 911, and told them he wasn't in his right mind and to come pick us up...

Sorry for all of this...may not be around much for a while due to grieving... thank you all for listenining.

OMG!!!

You poor dear!

I am SO sorry for this!

But, don't go blaming yourself for this!  It was NOT your fault!  It happened.  Blaming yourself, and all the "What if's ... "  will not change the way things are.  You will have enough to deal with, with your extreme grief.

Deal with your grief, and remember all the great times you had together.  Celebrate the life he had, and all the good times.

Never apologize for letting your feelings out.  Especially at this time, you need to get them out.  We are here for you.

My sincere sympathies in your very dark time.

Chuck

I'm sorry sounds so empty, but I don't know how else to say it.  We're here for you.  Don't feel bad about letting your grief out and letting us share the burden with you.

Thank you all...

Well I now have no reason to blame myself.

Because the coroner can't give us a cause of death until the toxicology report comes back. It seems it wasn't a stroke that killed him.

So it's likely that the meds his doctor gave him the day before he died had something to do with this... He gave him a shot of steroids, and IV of them, and an inhaler.

Thank you for all of your well wishes and prayers, they mean so much to me...

I know a small piece of what you are going through Mystina, I lost my grandma two years ago - she was more like a mother to me.  I know it will never be the same, but I want to tell you that you have my deepest sympathies.
Hang onto the happy memories you had with your Papa, share them with your little nephews when the time is right.   Smiley  They will appreciate it more than you know.  Losing someone so special is very difficult - allow yourself time to grieve.  Here, at home, wherever you need to.  But don't hold back.

Oh Mystina...so sorry for your loss....cling to the memories.....the hurt will never pass, but those memories will comfort and round off the edges of that hurt..... and one day you will rejoice....it's not easy or quick, it comes when you are ready...

First, here's his obituary... My Mom, Aunt and I wrote it last night.

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

We found out the 'cause of death' from the Judge's office who ordered the autopsy...

Severe Atherosclerosis.

His doctor didn't recognize this somehow. We think the steroids he gave him might have made the problem worse...The thing is though, he had a full run of tests on his heart along with everything else, 2 months ago.

Which should have shown all of this.

And didn't.

2 doctors, as far as I'm concerned, need their medical licenses pulled. His GP, and the Cardiologist who ran shitloads of tests on him.

His surgeon called us, telling us how shocked he was, how sorry he was and that we were in his prayers... That we had his condolences... He was honestly horrified that this happened.

I'm so angry. The man who raised me had something that they could have found, and with the tests they did, SHOULD have found.

He wouldn't want revenge, that isn't what this is about. I'm afraid these two doctors are going to wind up causing the deaths of others... We won't let his death be in vain.

When people from his work, though he was retired found out, a lot had to just go home from the plant. The viewing is tomorrow, funeral is Sunday.

This is just so wrong... It wasn't supposed to be like this...
