Your vibes needed please...
Sep 15th, 2009 at 9:12am

Hello,

I'm sorry I haven't been around too much lately and don't feel like I should ask for these, but am because we need all the help we can get. On Sunday, I went into prem labour and have been in hospital since. It was fairly serious, with a theatre booked for yesterday morning just in case but there are some positives too. Despite all the signs, contractions and tests showing my body getting ready, baby isn't really engaged properly and I have only very minor dilation. I've had a course of steroids to mature baby's lungs so if he/she were that determined to make an appearance at least there's a fighting chance in the outside world.

I've been allowed home today because the contractions, whilst still coming aren't anywhere near as painful anymore and I live about a mile from the hosp so can get back in double quick time. I am on bed rest now, probably until our munchkin decides to arrive but we're taking it a week at a time. We're unlikely to get to 40 weeks, so realistic and optimistic thoughts about nearer dates are helping me to feel more positive about this too. Every Friday, we hit another week, so this Friday is 29 weeks. All we want is to get to the next Friday as every day matters now. I know that if it's time, then it's time. No amount of worrying on my part can change that and chances of good health and a strong baby are all in our favour now with the care that is available.

I know there are folks here who need them far more, but any spare ones are very much appreciated - just to get us to Friday please!!

Thanks very much.
Em

This isn't the first baby we've worked to get through.  You can bet we will put forth all the stay put and get strong vibes we can so munchkin stays put as long as necessary and that Mommy gets lots and lots of rest.

Hang in there Em, ch miracles on the way...

Em, my family went through the same problems in April. The prayers and vibes from Clusterville helped us tremendously, and we made it to 34 weeks.

Prayers and vibes headed your way.

The best thing you can do is follow the bed rest advice.  And really do it!!  Lay around and gestate - it's the last time you'll be able to do this strictly for yourself, so have at it!!

Our prayers and vibes for as long as you need them.

Thank you everyone. It means a lot. I am being very careful now at home to maximise our chances. I am grateful that the hospital let me come home to rest, as there was a newborn next to me having some real trouble and I wasn't getting much sleep really. I'm also glad that the painful contractions have slowed - I wasn't ready for those just yet!

I'm feeling positive about this and we've decided to take all good things away from our experience - we now have some extra time to find out what is different about having a preemie, get our heads around the idea of it not coming home straight away, managing with work and house etc... A lot of people don't get that, so we're taking it as a sign. And if baby doesn't come early, then fantastic! Even better...

I think I've now used up my quota of out-of-bed time, so I'd better be getting back!!

Thank you all again.

Em
