Hi and welcome.

There may not currently be a cure for ch, but there are many prevents and aborts available to help with the pain.  I would start with the oxygen info link on the left.  02 is relatively cheap and safe if used correctly.  Check it out.

Welcome to CH.com we do know what you're dealing with here and for me, inflicting more pain on myself didn't work out so well.  Getting angry although completely natural really doesn't help so much either.  Oxygen is the tool I use to kick the beast to the curb where he belongs.  When out and about, a can of energy drink with taurine and caffine can stall or abort an attack for me if I catch it early and down it fast.  There are effective pharmecutical preventatives out there, see a doctor to start the trials needed to find what works best for you.  There's also the clusterbuster approach that obviously works wonders for many.

Sadly we haven't come accross a cure yet. But with a little patience and a willingness to work with a doctor, there are enough treatments available that most can continue with a decent quality of life. I hear your frustration, we've all been there. You just get tired of the pain.

Do look into the oxygen, and find a neuro willing to work with you. And we're always here to bitch to, we understand! Wink

No cure kid...
Just hang in there... I am now just coming to grips with the demon...
been dealing with it for going on 27 years... yes I did say and mean to type 27 years.
I know the frustration, we all do.  You are not the only "tuff guy" on here.  I have been all over the world and been involved in a lot of macho stuff... however this is one thing out of all of them that can bring me to my knees everytime... and there is not a damn thing you can do but ride it out.  You will be fine, hang in there and find a good doc... one that will at least listen and try to understand even if they do not... find someone on here in your area that can point you to a good doc if you do not have one.
Take care and Gods Speed.

I think we all know how you feel as we´ve all been down that road and theres still no end in sight. There is no cure but there is help out there take a look on the left and you´ll see lots of ways to manage this pain. Allso remember that you will have pain free times wich i for one take the most of (drink, sex, sunshine, sex, holidays, sex, laughter, sex, party´s, sex, cinema, sex and of course sex)

your not alone and everyone here is willing to help even if you just want to vent your anger we will listen.

wishing you lots of pain free days (and sex)

Hey,
I have had the beast in my head for 47 years and I am still alive and kicking, When the beast is away life is pretty good. I've done the why me and the anger bit; all it has done is stress me out and make things worse.

Death is not the Answer, it's what the demon wants...Do not let that S.O.B beat you. You will see that even though there is no cure yet there are many different ways to tame the beast.

First and foremost check out the info on O2 therapy. Once you have that fix sorted out you can try and see what works for you.

Hurting yourself is no answer as no pain you can inflict on yourself can match the beast.

Please stay strong, use the mental strength you develop as part of your training, treat the beast as the toughest match of your life..and play to win.
All my best
Mike

It is weird how doing something that causes pain seems to help for the moment.

While I have never hit anything hard enough to harm myself or make myself bleed I know what you mean. While an outside person looking in may think we have gone crazy only those of us who get these can understand. I have found myself many times beating the right side of my head or the back of my neck as hard as I can with my fist, the phone, a hard cased ice pack or whatever happened to be within pacing distance. So much so the next day my neck muscles were sore and the side of my head was tender. I also press my right eye (since the pain is right behind that area) hard enough to the point where I was afraid I would damage my eye one of these days.

During my last few attacks I have had to talk to myself out of hitting my head or pressing my eye and it has taken a lot of self control.

It's all very simple if you use oxygen therapy at a high enough flow rate to support hyperventilation...  The beast hasn't a chance when you beat him to the draw...  High flow rate O2 is all I've used since 2005 and the quality of life is better than average...

Moreover, you're wasting a lot of time and suffering needless pain if you don't give it a try... Shoot me a PM, I'll be glad to help talk you through the procedures.

Take care,

V/R, Batch

You love lots of things if you live around them. But there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, that’s as lovely as a great airplane. If it's a beautiful fighter, your heart will be ever there

Your best weapon is to learn a diiferent way of thinking as quickly as you can.

Stick around for the support and to gain a solid knowledge base.

research and listen to the advice regarding oxygen therapy.

Self injury isn't the answer and only makes us look that much stranger than we already are Smiley
