What I did.
May 15th, 2009 at 10:55am

I've been chronic for 13 years.

Before Christmas I was taking 200 mg of topomax, 720 mg of verapamil, and occasionally I'd be on indocin.  I also used O2 and imitrex when I get attacks.

So I was sick of the topomax making me feel dopey so I (along with my dr) decided to taper myself off.  I started feeling better so I decided to start cutting back the verapamil. Now I don't take any preventatives.

Since January I have had only 4 attacks and either took O2 or imitrex to abort.  Before I was getting between 5-12 attacks a week.

It's the best I've been since they started.  Sometimes I have shadows.

I know this isn't for everybody and you should consult your doctor, but I think I was over medicated.

Just thought I would share.  My divorce was final in December so maybe along with the stress of that I why I feel so good. Smiley

Take care and pain free wishes to everyone.

Tony

Yes, many people have found that medications can make matters worse, such as in extended cycles.  For some of us, yes they helped the CH to a good degree, but the side effects were hell in their own right.

I'm glad to see you are doing much better, and as Vet says...keep that O2 around just in case.

I can't believe that I have to bang my Head against this wall again. But the blows they have just a little more Space in-between them. Gonna take a breath and try again.

Glad it's working for you. 31 years and that little green tank is still one of my best friends!
