Something is different?
Apr 13th, 2009 at 12:01pm

First met the beast in the fall of 05. Did not have a clue what was going on.

I was and still am on a disability program going back to 03. Went through my GP and two nueros before my shrink figured that I might have Clusters.

Already being on three different meds while I worked with my shrink to tighten the screws that had come loose he wanted to put me on Topomax  so there's number four. So the next step was an abortive, being an MD he thought Imitrex, pill form. The drug plan would not cover it. He had to fill out a special form,a section eight. Don,t think the irony was lost on me Cheesy. It took many months for approval to come through and it was not worth the effort.

I did not find the site until last fall. Now I know what the hell is going on and I'm out of cycle. Went to my GP had him give me a prescription for o2. He said I'm the only patient he has with clusters and is open to me educating him. Cool

Arrange a new nuero. On my way to see him. Short side bar. On the elevator a little elderly lady shuffles over to me,I think"What I'm going to shanked for my water bottle?" I'm 6:1 so she looks up at me and says"You look just like David Beckam" Grin lol I'm inches away from a half century. Anyway see the Doc and he fills out a section eight for Imitrex injection. Three months later the papers come back."Has he tried Imitrex Pills" Am I surprised not at all.

Now to my question. Been having pretty heavy shadows for a few weeks, figure I'm going to get hit with a cycle, They normally hit in the pm very rarely at night. For the last week it has been twice during the night.Very odd. They have also not been the max maybe 7-8.
I'm a little freaked because I dreaded the night, then feared the night and managed to be just a little nervous of the night. This was through lots of cognitive therapy. So I know these things are wacky but does it seem to anyone that this might be a change to chronic. Maybe just a hiccup?

I'm episodic and also one that doesn't get too many night time hits.  Though I've had some cycles where it seemed it was nothing but night time hits.

Just when you're beginning to get into a groove with aborts and prevents the beast changes the rules.  The beast like to morph.  That's just how it is.

Do I think you're going chronic?  No.  Too early to tell anyway.  We'll talk again in 12 months.

Do I think the beast is f'ing with your mine as well as your head?  Yes.  It's the one thing he does consistently.  Kick his ass to the curb with O2 and go back to your life.

I hope this cycle amounts to nothing more than shadows for you...

Where there is life, there is hope.
Where there is Oxygen, you must use proper caution.
So be safe, don't smoke while using O2. Kill the pain and not yourself.

First 20 or so years of my cycles, I NEVER had a night attack. Wasn't unitl my 40's the beast introduced that pleasure to me!

The only thing you'll find predictable about the beast is his unpredictability. So glad you've got oxygen, it's been the miracle abortive for me. Glad you found us, welcome home!

I know its hard to not get your usual amount of sleep, but one good thing about night time hits is that its usually dark, quiet,, and there isnt anybody around to make noise, talk to you etc.

Its not so strange for CH to change its ugly face.

Maybe you wont get any full sized hits, and it will stay shadows, and leave you alone.

Good Luck,
Chris Cheesy

For me it varies widely.  For the first couple years I got hit at night with less than 1 daytime hit per month.
Then I shifted to chronic.  I got hit in the day or night, but only got 10 or so hits a week.
Then I went back to more episodic, but never getting more than 30 days PF time.
Several more changes later, I started a new cycle.  Day and night, all over the beach.  Sometimes I get 8 or 10 a day, others I get 2.  No rhyme or reason whatsoever.

The point is, this bastard changes a lot.

I've always got hit both Am,Pm and a couple during the night for good measure....I'm kind of the opposite to you right now I've had all my big hits during this cycle just experiencing heavy shadows for the last number of weeks.

Lets hope Chris is right...... Smiley
