New person to site

Hi Everyone. I'm a "new-be" to this site. Was internet searching for additional information on headaches/migraines and happened to come across this one. Reading some of these messages, looks like I'm not the only person in this world who suffers so teribly from headaches/migraines. So sorry all of you do...not fair any of us have to.

I've been on so may medications in my life, had every test done, just went through a series of nerve blocks...all with no success. Want to know if any of you have or had the Precision Plus SCS System implant. My Pain Mgmt Specialist told me this is my last resort but I'm very skeptical to have it done until I have talked to anyone who's had it done for headaches/migraines.

If anyone has or knows of anyone please let me know. Very curious to hear how it has worked for them. It's implanted more for back pain....

Thanks...

Hi Brandea, welcome to the site.

Has your physician diagnosed you specifically with Cluster Headaches? Just curious. Anyway, I'm a "supporter" so I don't know about the procedure of which you're inquiring. However, there is alot of information specifically about CH to the left.

Hope you find some answers!

Hello and welcome.

Have you got clusterheadache ? or migraine ? This site is dedicated specifically to clusterheadaches so although we sometimes discuss migraine, there is not a lot of information or experience posted about migraine, I am afraid.

I havent seen any discussion here about the Precision Plus SCS System implant within the last 3 years and I dont know much about it myself.

How did the specialist explain to you that it may work well for headaches/migraines ?

I've heard it mentioned by pain management doctors, including one talking to us about the clusters. I've only heard it mentioned, it hasn't gone any further, though.

But they DID say they had good results for some forms of headaches.

I wish I had more to offer than just 'I've heard of it'. The only thing I can reccomend is check around online more to see if there are others who have had success with it for the type of headaches you're having.

I hope either way, that you are pain free soon!

Reason: Edited to add in one other thing.

As far as I'm concerned, cluster busting has been the best treatment I've tried. No migraines since I started it, and my hits have gotten so much better. Wanna know more?

Hi everyone. Thanks for the feedback you guys gave me...much appreciated. Yes, I've been diagnosed with the fabulous cluster headaches as well as migraines. Had them well over 20 years...NOTHING has given me any relief ovr the years. Tried every medication out there, had CT Scans, MRI's..you name it..I've had it done.

I have headaches every waking minute of my life. Takes a tremendous toll on my life, kids and husband. If people don't experience it, and we all know we don't wish these on anyone, nobody understands what our life is like...DAILY.

What do all of you do for your headaches? Medications? Procedures? I'm looking for anything that anyone can provide.

My last resort, from what my Pain Mgmt doctor told me is the Stimulator..but of course there are high risks to having it but I'm at the point of taking those risks and doing it.

Suggestions???

Hi Brandea:

Sorry you are experiencing headaches daily.  I see you've asked what kinds of medications or procedures we've had.

I'll tell you what I've taken thats helped but it may be more efficient for you if you tell us what you've taken to treat your clusters , maybe what you are taking now for prevents, to abort etc?  With so many members having so many years of experience with these things many could look at your meds and dosages and help you have good discussions with your docs.

I've taken Verapamil 620 mg which stopped my headaches till cycle was over,  have taken most of the triptans with Zomig Nasal and Immitrex Stat Dose being the fastest abort for me.  Have taken Frova as sort of a prevent ,  and currently using only  RC Seeds which I believe has prevented my March Cycle.    I am episodic btw.

Glad to have you here and hope this helps in some way.

Alot of chronic clusterheads seem to have alot of good things to say about lithium.

If you've never tried it...I would think you should before having your head cut open!

A prednisone taper works exceptionally well with cluster headaches, alot of positive feedback on that also.

You may also want to check out clusterbusters.com also as it has been a lifesaver for some folks here.

Welcome aboard Brandea!

Hi Brandea,

I have not heard of the implant you mention.  There a lot of other options you might try before the implant that might just do the trick for you without having to be so invasive.

A lot of people here have success using high flow O2.  It works for me as well.  There is also clusterbusting; using RC seeds, mushrooms, or even LSD have had some success.  There are a number of supplement regimes discussed here that show some promise also.  There is a lot of info in the buttons on the left of the screen for all of these and more.  Good luck in your search.
