O2 Regulator Question??
Mar 8th, 2009 at 8:55pm

I have a question for those of you that currently use oxygen as an abortive therapy.

I'm curious as to what the operating range is on your O2 flow regulators.  5-15 LPM?  15-30 LPM?  30 LPM or more?  Whatcha got?

Thanks in advance for the info!

0.5 to 15 lpm for me right now.

Believe it or not, when I asked the respiratory therapist from my new O2 vendor if they would give me a regulator that goes to 25 lpm, he swore that there is no such thing.  <sigh>

I'm going to send him some links to web pages where these non-existent gadgets are for sale online. Meanwhile, I guess I'm going to buy one for myself.

Oh, and thanks DJ, for the prompt shipping of my O2ptimask.  Wicked good mask!

I use welders 02 and the regulator can go up as high as I need it to.  The bar was turned up high by accident once and it blew the hose off.  If that hadn't happened, the bag would have popped.

Love my 02! Smiley

0-60 liters/minute (... 25 LPM, 40 LPM, 60 LPM) Plus DISS and Demand Valve.  (I use both Demand Valve and the O2PTIMASK™ at the top flow rate settings depending on study/research requirements.)

0.5 to 25lpm.  Mine jumps from 15-25 which I really dislike.  Would love to have a stop in between at 20lpm.

I can still empty the bag at 25lpm when the pain is high so I'm thinking about getting a 60lpm regulator for my m-tank.

Chuck, please correct me if I am wrong, but the DISS is a fitting on the regulator that allows you to have the option of setting up the Demand Value System.

I believe it stands for Diameter Indexing Saftey System. Along with the standard barb (where you usually hook up your 02 hose to the tank) some regulators have one or more of these ports.

Demand valves must be screwed in the regualtor body at this port. With demand valves you have a constant flow every time you breath in, and the flow shuts off as soon as you stop breathing in. Very similar to a scuba divers mouth piece. Look at the Oxygen info on the left and  3/4 from the bottom, a regulator with Diss port is shown.

Gary's got .5-25 LPM for the E tank, and now that we're in the RV he's got the M60 tanks instead of the M tanks, but the new 02 company got him set up with 1-60 LPM with a DISS fitting.  No demand valve yet.  Using o2ptimask.

I bow to the wisdom of the lady with the nice bewbies and ass with the infinite wisdom and smarts ...

Yes, it is a fitting for the demand valve ...

Here is a picture of one:
Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

It is the fitting that you see just under the gage.  Notice that this regulator also has the nipple fitting for the O2PTIMASKTM (notice the blatant product plug) (available at your friendly CH.com store) (QUICK shipping, reasonable pricing) (Secure, quick, and easy)  (available 24/7/365).

The DISS fitting is NOT controlled by the LPM selector.  The nipple fitting is, but the DISS is a pressure thing, regardless of what the selector is set at.

Does that answer your question, fully, Bill?

Chuck

(BTW, before you ask if I get paid for my blatant CH.com store plugs, YES, I do!  I get paid THREE times what the rest of you get paid for plugging the store!  So THERE!!! Smiley)

My flow rate is continuously adjustable from 0 to I-don't-know-how-high. There is a flow rate gauge (of the ball in conical tube type) that reads 0 to 10 liters/minute, but it's probably slow by a factor of 2. I use a reading between 6 and 8, but the actual flow rate is more like twice the reading.
