T2 = P2 x T1 / P1

P1: tank pressure at T1 temp.
P2: water test pressure (1.5 x P1 in Hungary)
(T: temperature in Kelvin)
T1: for example 20 Celsius (68 F) = 293 Kelvin
T2: when the tank pressure reach the water test pressure

T2 = 1.5 x P1 x T1 / P1 = 1.5 x P1 x T1 / P1 =1.5 x T1 = 1.5 x 293 = 440 Kelvin = 166 Celsius = 330.8 Fahrenheit

If your car is hotter the tank may blow up Smiley

I have been doing this for several years now, and (so far) I have not lost a tank or a car. Chuck

Northeast Pa. here, and I carry two. One strapped on the back seat, and one full spare strapped in the trunk. Cold does not hurt them either. I do take my Optimask out so not to have a frozen valve, due to moisture.

My job requires I spend a lot of windshield time, I don't leave home without it when I'm in cycle.

I too have never lost a car or a tank. I did lose a house and car once, oh, sorry that was a divorce. Wink

Down near the floor and generally covered by an old blanket. If you exceed 300 degrees F, then you should use your vehicle to bake in! With best regards, Ray

According to the folks at LifeGas the seals will shrink with cold temps which can cause the tanks to leak.

I've never seen this myself and I keep a tank in the car year round. Just be aware that the full tank in the trunk might not be. That would really suck...
