Can anyone help me?
Mar 4th, 2009 at 8:39pm

I haven't been on here for a while, I have been PF for almost a year until about a week ago. They're back. I thought I was cured(ha ha) guess not.
Anyway on to my question, I would like to know if anyone knows of a good neurologist in the Eastern kentucky, southern Ohio, or Western West Virginia tri-state area. If you do please let me know who it is. Also anyoone here a sufferer and from this general area. Thanks alot.

THANK GOD FOR RED BULL!!!!!!

If you can't find a good neuro, look for a GP who will listen to you. Then educate yourself, using this board, and work with your doc to formulate a treatment plan.

And get oxygen!!!!! You think red bull works fast, I can be completely pain free in as little as 6 minutes using oxygen. Danged near miraculous the way it works. Wishing you luck in your neuro search.

Dave, how far are you from Edgewood?

Kentucky

Dr. John Kelly
Edgewood

I took this from the OUCH site on "sufferer reccomended Doctors"

Sad there is only one.   I'll be moving to Kentucky this year from California.   Western part though.

Dave,

Oxygen needs to be precribed by a physician yes.  But any Dr. with an M.D. after their name can precribe it.  It does not have to be a Neurologist.

This may take a while,  but please read this link I'm giving you, start to end.  Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Our good friend Chuck put this together and it is the most readable as well as informing information you can read on this subject.  Absorb this info.  Ask questions right here and a lot of us will try to answer any questions you have.

LOCATING HEADACHE SPECIALIST

1. Search the OUCH site (button on left) for a list of recommended M.D.s.

2. Yellow Pages phone book: look for "Headache Clinics" in the M.D. section and look under "neurologist" where some docs will list speciality areas of practice.

3.  Call your hospital/medical center. They often have an office to assist in finding a physician. You may have to ask for the social worker/patient advocate.

4. Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register; On-line screen to find a physician.

5. Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register Look for "Physician Finder" search box.  Call 1-800-643-5552; they will send a list of M.D.s for your state.I suggest using this source for several reasons: first, we have read several messages from people who, even seeing neurologists, are unhappy with the quality of care and ATTITUDES they have encountered; second, the clinical director of the Jefferson (Philadelphia) Headache Clinic said, in late 1999, that upwards of 40%+ of U.S. doctors have poor training in treating headache and/or hold attitudes about headache ("hysterical female disorder") which block them from sympathetic and effective work with the patient; third, it's necessary to find a doctor who has experience, skill, and a set of attitudes which give hope of success. This is the best method I know of to find such a physician.

I keep a tank at work with me. If you read Lindas link you'll see 02 comes in different sizes. An E-Tank will fit perfectly in one of those "soccer mom" chair bags. Tank, hose and regulator all fit. That way you aren't spooking everyone with a big medical looking rig.

Keep it under your desk, go to a quiet, "WELL VENTIALATED"  area and 10 minutes later you're pain free and back to work. On cycle I always have one of my security blanket green tanks within sight!
