Never during a hit but the next few days after a bad hit it feels like I was in a chick fight and had my hair pulled! Wink

Don't know if this is similar. I get little areas on my head that feel like small bruises. I don't know they are there until I inadvetantly touch them.

They seem to move around and are often difficult to find again. This only occurs now and again. I guess the size of these bruises is about a pin head 1 or 2 ml.

Yep, but I tend to pull my hair when I'm getting hit, so that might explain that one.

I have, always figured it was inflammed vessels under the skin. Tried treating with topical cortizone, seemed to help a bit with the scalp. Hope this passes.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I told my mom the other day that my hair was hurting, she looked at me like I was insane...

but seriously, the slightest touch on the left side of my head is painful... and the movement of my hair also hurts. so, yes, i know what you mean!

My scalp is sore every attack. the entire side of my head is tender and feels bruised. People have mentioned a scale, k1 through kwhatever, is there an actual chart for that?

I still have some sensetivity two days later, but can't say if is from that frist hit or not as a get more than one a day.  I found some info on the nerves involved in ch. and now wonder if the hair root thing was caused by a pissed of nerve.  Will try to refind this info later and post it.  Had a really cool pic.

Thank ya'll Tanyana

Yes.....I have said before that my hair hurt after a bad attack.  I do tend to pull my hair during a bad hit, but I think it would hurt anyway.

Its the trigeminal nerve. It has branches to the scalp and when the nerve is irritated due to a CH attack, it causes residual pain along all or most of its branches.

Patty,

The pain you're feeling is called cutaneous allodynia.  It one of the lesser known and understood symptoms of cluster headaches although it is more common in migraine headaches.  The best way to avoid allodynia is to abort your attacks more rapidly with oxygen therapy before the pain reaches a Kip-6.

Allodynia usually starts around Kip-7 and increases in intensity as the pain escalates.

Take care and get on your oxygen sooner for a faster abort of your cluster headache attacks.
