Hot Flashes?
Feb 2nd, 2009 at 3:46pm

Anyone else get these with their cycles, or is it just something I'm experiencing??

When Joe has CH cycles he has a very narrow temperature threshhold. I'm not sure exactly what, but he gets very cold and very hot easily.

Phil is warm blooded to begin with, but right before he gets hit and right after a hit he gets very sweaty.

Oh I see how it is now! And here I thought it was CH! But Bill, since he had hot flashes before I did, does that make MINE the sympathetic ones?  Smiley

Sometimes I get REALLY hot when I'm having an attack, like I've just ran a mile on a sunny day of 105 deg. Other times (like today) I feel like I'm going to freeze to death.

Hi Mel,

Are you talking about "hot flashes" at random--not associated with an attack--or during an attack?

Reason I ask, is that during an attack, I sweat like mad.  Afterwards, I'm cold.

I've not noticed getting overheated during a cycle when I'm not getting a hit, however.

Hope this &^%$#@ ends for you soon.  I hate high cycle.

Best wishes,

George

Hey George,

I'm talking about at random, but now that you mention it, 1/2 the time they come with shadows.

Cripes, I hope I'm not starting mentalpause at 34!!! Tongue

Luke (remember him? He was the one trying to hold me down during my hit, in the video) was the first one to point out how my body temperature spiked while I was getting hit.  He said it almost hurt to touch me, I was so hot.  (I always KNEW I was hot stuff!)

I have been told that by several others, since then.

(No comments about being an old lady with your hot flashes)

To your credit Chuck!  Grin

I've always been a super heater/sweater when getting hit. Then I run for a coat when it's done. That's why Christy commented on my thin temperature threshold...hot..cold...hot..cold!!!

I refuse to say I get Hot Flashes.

During a hit my temp goes way up.  Head for the outdoors, the colder the better.

Thanks Deb.  I suppose it could be happening to me, my mom started it when she was 37.  I'll make an appt. with my doc next week for a hormone workup.

This rots. Tongue

Shadows=too warm
Full hit=sweating my butt off
After shadow/hit=gimme a sweatshirt!!!

I do notice I tend to be a little more sensitive to temp changes when in cycle, but not sure if it's all in my head or not. Just the stress of knowing what's lurking around the corner tends to put me on edge a bit. That might have something to do with it!

Hope you kick it soon Mel!

I think I've had an epiphany.

My hot flashes have been crazy.  I get all heated up, have to take my swear off, fan myself, use a cold pack or cold washcloth on my forehead, then about 3-5 minutes later, I'm chilly, sometimes shivering.  Also, for the past 3 or 4 months before this cycle even began, I've been having problems during my sleeping where I wake up really hot and have to take my jammy pants off.

I wonder, if I really AM perimenopausal and THAT is what has my cycle so screwed up this time?? Undecided Undecided

I'm calling the docs office tomorrow.

BTW, Thank you so much Adam!! Kiss

Actually, I think the correct term in use today is "POWER SURGE" rather than the older "Hot Flash" Smiley

I get very hot during a hit. When I get sneezing attacks and itchy eyes my temeprature goes up. I always seek out a cool or cold place when I am hit. The colder the better.

I have never been any good at judging my body temperature and friends and family used to always remind me to wear gloves hat and stuff because I wouldn't notice any effect until I was really cold.

Part of the function of serotonin as I understand it is to regulate body temperature.

Ellick!  You gave me an idea that I'm trying tonight.

I will try Melatonin again, 12mg (I tried 9mg before and ended up with a Migraine, but it wasn't from the melatonin, long story, lol) before bed and then when I wake with an attack I'm going to down a 1/3rd of an energy drink and huff the O2!

I have hope, yes I do!!!!
