By the way, in the Netherlands it is written as: Channoekah. Interesting to see it is entirely different in English. Is it also pronounced otherwise? With an H at the beginning?

Yes, it generally is.  We don't have the fricative in English, and many of us find it difficult to pronounce--it often comes out as a hard "K" sound instead of the softer "Ch".

Sorta like the difficulty that other speakers have with the English "Th", I suppose.

the h of  hanukkah sounds like ch
the sound you make befor you spit  Smiley

in holland the letter g is the sound
