Title: Week 2 on Test
Post by SmallNStout on Jun 2nd, 2014 at 3:55pm
So far so good. I have only had a single headache this entire week, and my sleep has been a LOT better than normal. No other boosts yet though. I've been told that it takes about 3-4 weeks for it to really kick in so we will see.

I did get my lab results back, and while I had a middle range Testosterone score, my estrogen was the same as a female. Boosting my Test and dropping my estrogen should make some difference in how I feel overall. Also my Vitamin D3 was low - even though I am supplementing with it. I'll have to talk to the doc and see if there is a better way to get my levels up.

Anyway, so far so good.

Small,

I have a few questions if you don't mind.

1.  What were your T levels before you started?

2.  How much are you taking and how is it administered?

3.  Are you on any other meds at the same time or did you taper off of things like verapamil, lithium and Topamax?

The reason I ask is I just got my labs back and found that I too have low testosterone levels and an otherwise treatment refractory cycle that even the D3 regimen can't stop even at 50,000 IU a day my 25 OHD3 levels are only 152.  And I still can't break this cycle.   The only thing that stops the HA's currently is 750 mg's of Topamax and that stuff is not fun.

My Neuro has just never given T for well anything before so I and he are trying to "bone up" on its use for CH treatment.

Thanks for your help.

Eric

Hi Eroc, Sorry it took me so long to respond. Things have been busy now that I have my life back :)

1. My base T levels (at the best possible conditions) were at 570. My Estrogen was way over the top. Out of a 115 range, I was at 120. This means that whatever Test I had going well, was being cancelled out by the over-high estrogen.

2. at first I was taking 200mg Test. Cyp. every 4 weeks. The problem became after day 7, the half life of Cyp, I would crash, and the beast would come roaring out bad. I have since been adjusted to 100 mg of Test Cyp. every week, and things are great. The only time I get any tiny little shadows are on day 7.

I take the Test as an intramuscular injection - straight into the ole butt.

3.None of the meds did anything for me - not topomax or verapamil, etc. D3 supplementation didn't help. If it didn't help me, I stopped taking it. So I was free of 100% of all drugs when I started T (by at least 6 months).

Physicians are weird about Test - but I went out and found a lot of studies supporting the use of TRT for cluster, and my physician was willing to let me try it. I can give you some links to the studies if you would like.

Also, there are clinics near me that are headache clinics that  utilize TRT for cluster. This clinic is the one near me.
