Title: What does O2 feel like? Post by SmallNStout on Apr 25th, 2014 at 8:43pm
I don't have it yet - won't see my doctor for another few weeks yet. I am sure she won't have a problem with the Rx, but I was wondering... what effects does breathing straight 100% O2 have? I always imagine it would be somewhat like what hyperventilating is like... Are there any after effects? Dizziness? does it make you sleepy? Wired?
Thanks guys. Keep on keepin' on. |

It feels simply wonderful as I know that as soon as I'm on the oxygen that I'm just minutes away from being pain free.
It can feel slightly cool and dry to breathe but otherwise you can't really tell the difference between breathing it and normal air. |

I have 15 lts per minute, which does not make me hyperventilate, but is enough to knock out a CH. It works quicker if I take really deep breaths through my mouth but then I get a very dry throat.
You can rig up something to moisten the 02. Check out "oxygen info" yellow highlighted tab on the left of your screen. |

All of the above. Hyperventilation is the effect you are actually seeking. It's what makes O2 work. Dizzy and feeling a little wired? That's euphoria - the sheer joy of knowing you've beaten the beast and only normality lies ahead. Sleepiness? Oooh, sleepiness. To sleep, perchance to dream. Yep, there's after-effects, and we love 'em. |

Thank you everyone. I mainly want to know because the pain tends to make it so I can't train - and previous treatments would make it so that even if the beast/shadow went away, there was no way I could lift. If O2 has no last euphoria or dizziness with it, then that's EXACTLY what I want/need. End the pain and get back to the gym to train. I am determined not to let the pain destroy my life, or my fun!

If you hyperventilate your skin, and body extremities may tingle for a while, like mild pins and needles, but it doesn't last long.

It's oxygen, it's right up there with water, it's life. It feels great, it wakes you up, makes you feel more alert. Athletes use oxygen all the time as it aids in recovery. It is by far the most neutral abort method I have ever tried, just sweet relief..when it works, it is absolute magic, pain..huh huff huff..no pain, for me 5 min...soo reliable I could set my watch by it.
