Title: D3 - is more needed as time goes on?
Post by w7sg on Mar 17th, 2014 at 7:34pm
Hi all,

I'm taking 3000/day.  All has been well.  I notice some pain coming back.  Wonder if I need to start increasing the D3.  Does the body "get use to it" & need more to maintain?

thx all.   :)

Hey w7sg,

Good question...  While 3000 IU/day vitamin D3 is better than no vitamin D3 at all...  it's too low a maintenance dose to keep most CH'ers pain free.  The following chart tells the story...

As you can see it takes an average dose of 5,000 IU/day vitamin D3 to obtain a 25(OH)D response of 60 ng/mL.... the lower boundary of the "green zone" where most CH'ers have reported a pain free response to this regimen...

10,000 IU/day vitamin D3 has proven to be a safe and effective maintenance dose for CH'ers... roughly 30 cents a day including the cofactors.

Take care,

Be sure to take the vitamin D3 with the largest meal of the day.  This can help absorption by as much as 50% over taking vitamin D3 on an empty stomach.

Take care,
