Over at the clusterbusters board, we heard tell of a fellow with nearly-chronic CH who had been on vacation, bought a local beverage -- and virtually hasn't had an attack since he started drinking it (pain-free the last eighteen-plus months).  To make matters even stranger, the drink is alcohol-based.  (If you want to see why I call his past CH "nearly chronic," go to the first post in the CB thread I'm telling you about below. Turns out I'm not allowed to post actual links because I'm relatively new here -- sorry for that.)

Another person with chronic CH decided to try it. He has had similarly amazing results.  Others are getting ready to test it (it takes some time to prepare the beverage). 

You can see the thread at the ClusterBusters "General Board" (open to non-members).  The title of the thread is "The lengths to which CH'ers are willing to go ..."  It will probably be quite near the top of the listing of threads for some time to come.  You might or might not want to keep an eye on it.  No one's saying that it's a miracle cure or anything like that -- only that two out of two people with severe CH have so far experienced very significant success with it, and others are getting ready to try it.

The beverage is called mamajuana (no relationship to the similarly-named herb).  It's apparently a big national thing in the Dominican Republic.  It contains a whole lot of herbal stuff.  It can't be bought already-prepared in the US, so one has to buy the "kit," soak it in alcohol, and then re-soak it.  (At least one ready-made variety can be bought in the US, but it doesn't contain all the same herbal stuff.)  If you want to see it (again, apologies that I can't just post the link), go to eBay and type in mamajuana.  (I think both of the testers at CB have used the Don Ramon brand.)

If I remember the thread correctly, alcohol was not a trigger for the person who used it first, but it is a trigger for the second person, but has not triggered attacks when he has drunk the mamajuana.
