Title: Constant HA
Post by JoshL on Jan 19th, 2013 at 12:20pm
I'm at what should be near the end of my cycle and recently started the D3 regimen (not sure if it is related at all to what I am about to describe).  I have had an almost constant headache for a few days and it feels like the onset of a CH that never progresses.  It is more intense than a shadow but not nearly as intense as a full blown attack.  It started 2 days ago, I used a sumavel injection yesterday when i was able to refill and it went away, then it woke me up last night and hasn't gone away since.  I have also been having regular attacks during all of this.  Has anyone had a similar experience?

You are raising a medical question which we should not get involved in second guessing. Suggest you get back to your doc with his one.

I'd love to, but I won't be able to until after the holiday weekend.  Not loving the idea of the ER yet again,  but idk what else to do at this point.

I'm with Bob in that you do ned to get in to see the doc. Until you can I can suggest two stop gaps to maybe help get ya thru the weekend:

4 way nasal spray. That's the brand name, snort it up the affected side, helps with shadows.

Chug an energy drink with an Excederin for Migrain. Not something you do regularly as it will cause rebounds but again, a good stop gapper.

Hope you find some relief soon.

Joe

Josh, I don't read this issue as an emergency.

When you spend some time here you will see how much we agree that the ER is one of least helpful places to find good kowledge/experience/help with Cluster. Docs who cover them are trained in those injuries/illnesses which are most likely to show in the ER and need that intensity of carre.

The great problem for many of us is finding a doc with the experience/training in complex headache disorders. Even neurologists, who you would expect to be the first line of defense, have strikingly little training in headache. Hence, we encourage, of at all possible, a specialist.

LOCATING HEADACHE SPECIALIST

1. Yellow Pages phone book: look for "Headache Clinics" in the M.D. section and look under "neurologist" where some docs will list speciality areas of practice.

2.  Call your hospital/medical center. They often have an office to assist in finding a physician. You may have to ask for the social worker/patient advocate.

3. START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE; On-line screen to find a physician.

4. START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE Look for "Physician Finder" search box. They will send a list of M.D.s for your state.I suggest using this source for several reasons: first, we have read several messages from people who, even seeing neurologists, are unhappy with the quality of care and ATTITUDES they have encountered; second, the clinical director of the Jefferson (Philadelphia) Headache Clinic said, in late 1999, that upwards of 40%+ of U.S. doctors have poor training in treating headache and/or hold attitudes about headache ("hysterical female disorder") which block them from sympathetic and effective work with the patient; third, it's necessary to find a doctor who has experience, skill, and a set of attitudes which give hope of success. This is the best method I know of to find such a physician.

5. START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE NEW certification program for "Headache Medicine" by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties, an independent, non-profit, professional medical organization.
Since this is a new program, the initial listing is limited and so it should be checked each time you have an interest in locating a headache doctor.

I know the feeling you describe all too well.  Kinda like a bad hangover that lingers?

Agreed with others to go see your doc.  But until then...have you tried o2?  It worked rid my stubborn headache feeling you are referring to.

As mentioned above, energy drinks can be very help too!

Good luck ;)
