Title: Double Trouble!!! Post by Mr Muffin on Jan 4th, 2013 at 11:04pm
Well crazy things are going on in Mr Muffins world...let me explain. My most recent trip to the ER ended up with me being diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia to go along with my CH!!!As if it wasn't enough to have the #1 most painful condition now I've got the 2nd most painful at the same time.Im still trying to find out all the details about TM but I know its bad and I got this three weeks into my cluster cycle.Having CH is almost to much to take but having both of these is going to require a lot of hoping and praying.I would like to know if anyone else has had both or if they might be connected somehow and how you deal with the level of pain with both.I know I'm asking a lot but I'm very desperate at this point. It will be a little while before I will get to see my doc so all help, advice and prayers will be greatly appreciated. Also I'm taking sumatriptan for the ch,prednisone and hydrocodon for the TM.I'm still in the process of trying to get O2.Thank you for your help and support.

Hope you're working with a good headache specialist as with two different types of headaches things can get pretty complicated as what might work for one might make the other worse and vice versa. Or it could be that your medication needs to be adjusted to account for the two headache types.
And you're not alone in having more than one headache type, although it's more common for the second headache type to be migraine based on what I've seen people post about here. For the TM I see you've been prescribed hydrocodon and prednisione. You need to be careful with both of these since hydrocodon is an opiate which can result in issues like dependency and prednisione is pretty harsh on your body so you probably shouldn't be taking it for anything more than the short term. So do get to see a headache specialist to get you sorted on a good long term strategy and to confirm the TM diagnosis. Do get the oxygen for the CH, it's simply life changing in how effective it is to kill off CHs. Read the oxygen info on the left and you'll soon be killing CHs off in minutes. |

Thank you both for your comments.I am trying to switch docs because mine just wasn't cutting it.I'm praying that I can get the 02 this time especially with the help that you have provided.I feel very fortunate that I found this site and all of the wonderful information in it.Right now that's the only bright spot I have in these dark days.

There is also an option, used by many, of using welding oxygen. This is just as pure as medical oxygen as otherwise welds would fail. Others who use it will be able to give you targetted advice on how to get it. |

I was diagnosed with both, and I can tell you having both attack at the same time is one hell of a ride. My very first experience with O2 was during such an attack. The first symptom that yielded to the oxygen was the TM. It was such an amazing relief to be left with "only the CH." That, too, yielded to the O2, and the more I applied an effective O2 delivery system, the quicker they yielded. Over time, the TM faded and CHs gave way within 2-3 minutes of high flow O2 use. Get an Optimask and a demand flow regulator for fastest delivery. Praying for you. lance

Well I finally have a update for everyone.I went to Dynamic health and pain management center in charlotte and after a consultation they took some x-rays of my neck and it showed that my spine is growing into my brain/stem.There pretty sure thats what is causing the TN but they don't know about the ch.I will be sure to keep everyone posted on here.My treatment so far is shots in my neck/spine and decompressing it trying to relieve the pressure on my brain.Praying this fixes all my problems.

Hopefully this will account for both the TN and CH. This is a good example of why people really do need to get the appropriate investigations done.

Thanks for the info.I'm going to have a EEG test tomorrow to see if I have nerve damage.Hopefully that goes well and they can at least get rid of the TN.At this point anything would be an improvement.I never thought I would be wishing I just had CH but this has been a nightmare of monumental proportions!!!!!Wish me luck!!!
