I have episodic CH about 10 years ,monday I will send the form to my GP to get the oxigen.
I would like to know what will happen with the oxigen, will cure the CH,or if I will have CH for the rest of my life.I would like also to know if there are any chance to episodic CH transform to a chronic Ch

There is no cure, i.e., total elmination as you might cure an infection, but, rather, use of various treatments to control the disorder. Some meds abort, or stop an attack; others prevent/reduce frequency of attacks.

There is soft evidence that Cluster often tapers off around age 60, with decreasing frequency of attacks until they disappear.

Shift from episodic to chronic occurs; no way to prevent; no known reasons for a shift have been established.

Chronic cluster headache: a review.

Cluster headache (CH) is a rare but severe headache disorder characterised by repeated unilateral head pain attacks accompanied by ipsilateral autonomic features. In episodic CH, there are periods of headache attacks with pain-free intervals of weeks, months or years in between. A minority of patients have the chronic form, without pain-free intervals between the headache attacks. Chronic CH can occur as primary or secondary chronic CH; the rarest form is episodic CH arising from chronic CH. In this article, we give a review of the chronic forms of CH and focus on demographics, clinical manifestations, social habits, predictive factors, head injury, genetics, neuroimaging and therapy. IT IS REMARKABLE THAT LITTLE IS KNOWN ABOUT RISK FACTORS THAT MAKE CH CHRONIC.

The rest of your life is a long time, hopefully, but CHs do tend to stick around for quite awhile. What will happen when you're on O2? If you are using it properly (for CHs that is) with a good nonrebreather mask and a regulator that is minimally 15lpm (25lpm is better) then you should experience what the rest of us have: an almost immediate dimunition of pain followed by full abort in 3-5 minutes. We can make that more effective by chugging an energy drink and then hitting the O2. Rarely do I need to follow that up with an imitrex injection. So read the link at left and go for it. You also should look into prevenatives. God bless. lance
