Title: New guy here from Texas
Post by Tim in Texas on Nov 19th, 2012 at 1:24pm
Hi everyone. Just found this site and what a relief it was to read everyones story. Little about me: 37 year old man living in Kerrville, Texas. I have been suffering from these damned cluster headaches for almost 15 years. I usually have recurring cycles every 2 years. The hang around an torture me for about 4-5 months. Currently, I believe, that in on the tail end of my cycles.(I sure hope so) this year they started for me at the beginning of August. So I'm praying that they are almost over. Reading everyones stories I could relate to every last one of you. For any of you who can't relate directly with what everyone shared...then you probably aren't getting cluster headaches. But for those who are, I sympathize for you immensely. For a long time I never met anyone else who gets these headache and when I tried to describe them to other people....they just looked at me like I was just a wuss and had a low tolerence for pain. Finally, I started working somewhere just recently and discovered the the GM gets them too.
I would share my story, but its that same as everyone elses.wake up in the middle of the night in unimagineable pain, when they let up I am scared to go back to sleep.
I would like to share some things I haven't read here yet. This is for all the people who live with the "sufferers" and are here to gain a better understanding of what you loved one is going through. First and foremost....there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to comfort someone in the midst of one of these headaches. Don't get upset if you ask them a question and they become rude. Talking kills us. Usually we just want to be left alone in a cold dark room until the storm passes. We don't want to lay down either. Most of the time we just seperate ourselves from everything around us. I go into my closet, shut the door(of course the light is off) sit on a milk crate that I keep in there just for this reason. Sometimes I just cry, other times I put pressure on the back of my head and between my eye. However, when they get really bad....I pace looking for the darkest, quietest, and coldest place in the house.
The only thing you can do for us is leave us alone. Trust us, if we knew how to even slightly find comefort....we would have found it by now.once its over, we will come back to you. We will be exhausted and I'm always covered in sweat and tears.
I just wanted to say hi, new guy from Texas. Hope everyonegets some rest tonight. I can feel my anticipation building as the witching hours grow near.

Hey there Tim, welcome to your new home! It's really hard for non-CH sufferers to understand what we go through.

Hope you're getting the right treatment to prevent the cluster headaches. If what you're using isn't working, feel free to ask for opinions. :)
