Title: Chia WORKS for me!!!!!
Post by abChiawonders on Apr 18th, 2012 at 8:22am
Hey everybody!  I've been following posts on this site for help with my headaches. I determined that mine are triggered by dehydration. I was recently introduced to Chia seeds, an ancient superfood of the Aztecs and Mayans. (Yes, they are the same Chia seeds that grow world famous Chia pets!!) I was introduced for nutrition purposes. What I found is that they keep me hydrated for longer periods of time (all night!!!) Thus, NO HEADACHES!!!!
Anyway, I buy organic seeds (they are affordable--around $10 per lb, which lasts quite a while!) and I take one tablespoon with a cup of water in the am. Then I try to stay hydrated throughout the day. At night before bed, I take another Tbsp. w/ water and I have been staying hydrated all night long (so no headaches!!!!!).
I have even used this technique at the onset of a headache. Within 15-20 minutes I was able to drive and my headache was gone!!!   I hope everyone gives this a try. Chia seeds are a superfood and super hydrator. They have high levels of fiber, Omega 3, protein and antioxidants. They also curb hunger/cravings (use them for weight control)!!!!!  Give them a try. They can be purchased at just about any local health food store!!!!!!

I am glad you found something to help you with your dehydration headaches. Have you been to a neurologist to get a work up done, and a diagnosis for your specific headache type? While many of the ingredients you list for CHIA seeds appear to have positive health benefits, I do not see any ingredients that have proved beneficial for Cluster Headache sufferers. Hope the seeds continue to keep you pain free, it's what we're all after.

You mow it.  Either that or you wait a while and make hay.

(Charlie probably has a smiley around pushing a mower)

If you turn over in bed like that, is it a roll in the hay?

abChiawonders, please don't take offense at our having fun.  We are not attacking you, in fact, I am really glad you found something that works for you for your HA's.  We do get a lot of "snake oil" salesmen, of which you are not, and we tend sometimes to poke fun at different "remedies" that are presented.  While having fun with it we are looking for real value, so please don't be offended.

Clusterheads tend to be like cops, firefighters, Marines and soldiers, etc. in that we find odd humor in our affliction that often is misunderstood by those not in the group.

I find it's -if I don't laugh I'll start crying again-

That said I have a bag of chia. I did a 100 day smoothie challenge. I lasted a couple of months and then depression hit and my kitchen became a wreck. But thinking about it when I was using chia I wasn't in cycle. I am now. It's worth a shot since elavil put 50+ pounds on me and the neurontin has my feet so swollen I can't wear my shoes:( Luckily it's kinda flip flop weather here and I see my doc in two days.
