Title: D3 great stuff
Post by bhb on Sep 1st, 2011 at 7:07am
I’ve been taking the D3, omega fish oil and citracal for a week with very little change until I started taking it the other day with lemonade. Yesterday evening only a slight headache and the 11:00 wake up headache was easily able to get rid of after drinking a red bull it was gone after 10 minutes and never got horrible. The 2 am wakeup was a little more difficult but was still able to go back to bed after only a half hour even it I wasn’t able to go back to sleep.

UNBELIEVABLE it is wonderful I actually feel human today. I’m only tired as 2 red bulls at night meant I couldn’t go back to sleep after the 2 am wake up but I’m not in the painful exhausted state that my day generally starts and I was never able to go back to sleep before as it would last until it was almost time for the alarm to go off. I completely hate lemonade which is why I hadn’t been using it however I HATE CH more.

I’m still trying to get welders o2 but so far it’s proving more difficult then I thought it would be.

On a different note I was just wondering if anybody else ever noticed that their pets could pick up on these headaches. It’s something I noticed in my cat many years ago that he would suddenly start sniffing around my right eye about 2 months before the cycle started and he would do it 3 – 5 minutes before every hit. He’s an old boy now so he spends most of his time sleeping and not forewarning me but he was so happy to get play time last evening as he hasn’t had his usual amount of attention. Most evenings / nights have been something one just lives through waiting and waiting for the cycle to end.

Congratulations on finding an intervention that works for you! It is such a relief when the beast puts its tail between its legs and goes running off, even for a little while. As for you cat...I'm allergic to them. They come sniffin' around me just cuz they know they'll make me sneeze. Perverse little creatures. Anyway, pets are remarkably "master" intuitive. It's good to have the support of those that luv ya. Blessings. lance

Yes, but in a slightly different way.

One of our cats is scared of just about anything and yet when I'm having a CH he always seems to appear, staying with a few feet of me and calling out for my other half to come (he can be very vocal about it with a distress call). He stays around until the CH starts to subside (a LOT quicker now with oxygen) and then vanishes.

Wow - animals/pets = awesome.

I saw a report awhile back where dogs are being trained to be able to 'smell' and signal (in a scientific/clinical setting) whether someone has some dangerous cancer cells developing before any medical tests can detect it.

This is my little girl Jess; a Red/Blue Heeler cross "Cattle dog", as some may remember my wife has been going through treatment & surgery for breast cancer over the last 2 years, 6 months prior to the first cancer being detected in the left breast Jess started sniffing Nina's breast & started peeing herself, we thought that she "Jess" had something wrong with her but no vet could come up with an answer other than the dog was neurotic  :o.
Once the breast was removed & Nina had recovered Jess stopped her strange behavior until about six months later when she started sniffing Nina's right breast & peeing herself again & yes you guessed it on Nina's next visit to the breast cancer specialist in Perth cancer was found in the right breast, now that this one has been removed & Nina has recovered Jess has gone back to normal.

Coincidence, I don't think so.

Cheers
Barry

Welcome bhb...you are home!

Congrats on finding something that works for you...THIS is the place to find out that good stuff.

My Brother's dog had a huge heart. She witnessed an 8
+ and it scared her wimpering under the deck. When I was coming down, she overcame her fear...walked over, touched her nose to my knee...and looked up at me..."you ok Jon?". Told her I was and patted her head...she trotted away with a smile......

Best,

Jon

BHB,

There are actually two parts to this regimen...  The anti-inflammatory properties of Omega 3 Fish Oil and Vitamin D3 is one part.  The other is the action of calcium citrate and citric acid from lemonade, limeade, or any other juice high in citric acid that forms a buffer in the stomach.  This buffering action in the stomach eventually elevates arterial pH and that stimulates vasoconstriction which makes the CH triggering mechanism less effective.

I suspect the beneficial effects you've experienced while taking this regimen will improve with time.  The average time to a fully pain free response to this regimen appears to be two weeks.

If you can swing it, ask you PCP for the 25-hydroxyvitamin D, a.k.a. 25(OH)D blood test.  This is the serum level metabolite of vitamin D3.  The normal range is 100-200 nmol/L (40-80 ng/mL).  Based on test results reported by others, I suspect you're just breaking 100 nmol/L at this point.

Take care and please keep us posted.

V/R, Batch

So far this has greatly reduced the pain level and length, my daytime hits are now under control with just a few deep breaths. The night ones are a little stronger but most have stayed below a kip 6, the only ones that are higher have been when strong storms are nearby and my 2 am hit. I did manage to get the welder o2 and it works for all but the 2 am hit, I just can't quite get that one stubborn time to behave. It is less in level the highest it's gotten has been kip 8 and goes away quicker so that I can actually go back to bed instead of still trying to get it to go away by the time the alarm goes off for work.

My cat George does help by trying to get as close as possible and when I pet him it does seem to relax me some. Not sure why it helps but I stay a thinking human when he tries to help. For many years he's been my main support and it's nice to have found this site as I now feel I have alot of support.  I don't feel alone anymore.

Thanks to all
