I tend to dig for ways to make the cost of Imitrex injections as close to zero as possible.
For this entire episode I have been successfully aborting using a form of bulk sumatriptan (in the form of Suminat Nasal) cut with saline, at a cost of about $0.50 per abort / $1.00 per vial.

Cost is always a factor for us. I have aborted with Imitrex 57 times since 6/29. At $80 a vial / $40 a dose I would be down over $2k right now.

So... mildly related to all that... I requested a price on bulk sumatriptan succinate from an offshore chemical house.

The good news is the price would work out to a hair under 1 cent per vial. The bad news is the quote was for 100kgs, enough for 16,000,000 vials :o, at $150,000.

Start passing the hat. ;D

One thing I do is ask my neuro to give me a Rx for THREE with refills. The pharmacy runs it through the insurance and I get three boxes of shots for the same copay instead of just one box.

The little things sure help when we are forking out LOTS of money on medication.

How much does Imitrex inj typically cost, without insurance?

The last time I checked it was $210.00 for the two pack shot kit and that was a few years ago.

If you are talking the Sumavel dose air injectors last time I took note it was aprox. $135.00 per single dose of 6mg.

And in New Zealand, NZ$3 for a prescription (about US$2.60).

I am exactly 121 injections into this cycle, with the latter 110 or so of them being this solution.
That works out to about $5k saved.
I have it down to a science now.

Unlimited injections. Really takes a load off my mind.
