Title: Free diving during CH cycle Post by neno on Jun 17th, 2011 at 3:42am
Does anyone know can free diving trigger a CH attack because of different pressures under water and vessel dilatation?

Yes, definitely. When in cycle I get hit every time I break the surface coming up. I no longer dive when in cycle now. Talk about a boat full of freaked out guys, when I started hitting the O2...
Definitely wouldn't recommend diving when in cycle. The hits seemed to take longer than normal to abort with O2 as well. Jeff |

I hoped I'd get a different answer :(, but thanks anyway...

I'd hypothisize that it's not the Nitrogen, but CO2 that's the trigger. Being that it's the diametrical opposite of O2 that helps us abort attacks. Both free diving and skip breathing, while tank diving, creates a buildup of CO2. (I also skip breath while diving nitrox for air management)
