Title: wellbutrin and clusters
Post by heretheyareagain on May 14th, 2011 at 1:18pm
Has anyone had Wellbutrin make their clusters worse?
I have been taking Wellbutrin for about 2 1/2 years and I started it while in remission.  No clusters for 3 years.  They started up this time in March and it's been almost 8 weeks now.  I'm starting to wonder if they won't go away because I'm taking Wellbutrin.  I'm thinking about stopping it for a while to see if my headaches go away.
Any thoughts?

i briefely took wellbutrin as a smoking cessation drug and it made me walk around with constant shadows.  plus it made me furious most of the time... just be careful about stopping it.  defenitely something you would want to talk to your doc about first.  i hear withdraw effects can be a real @#$#%.

If a side effect has not appeared during 2-1/2 yrs of use, it's hard to even suspect that the W is the problem.

An any case, if you stop, and the CH eases up, what does that prove re. cause and effect? And, what would happen, during the off period, to the issue for which you are taking the Wellbtrin? The core issue is that CH can be an unstable condition with symptoms changing for no apparent reason. This is a recurring, frustrating issue around meds: an old, effective med stops working! So, we start a new round of trials to find a replacement. <sigh!>

In any case, this is the kind of issue to throw at the doc.

My experiences with Wellbutrin and cluster headaches was very, very bad. I don't want to cause unnecessary alarm by going into details, because I don't know if my experiences were typical or not.
