Title: Should I come off Topamax now?
Post by Melby29 on Feb 25th, 2011 at 8:25pm
My Headache Specialist With Whom I Am In Love called me back yesterday to say that it's ok for me to take the verap with the zoloft. Unfortunately, I missed his call and he said that to my messagebank, so I didn't get a chance to talk to him.

It's now the weekend, and tomorrow it will be 6 weeks since this cycle started. I haven't used to O2 for 2 days, and that last time was only once in the evening - the next day I killed a hit with an energy drink, yesterday nothing (a few niggly ones that lasted 20 min then went away, now it's lunchtime and nothing at all yet). So I'm figuring it's probably pointless to change meds at this stage, as maybe (I HOOOOOOPPPPPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!) this cycle is winding up?????

So without being able to contact The Headache Specialist With Whom I Am In Love til at least Monday, do you think I should just stay on the Topamax for the next few days? I mean, that seems the logical thing to me, but what the hell do I know???

I will definitely call him because I need to know "What next" as far as meds once I do come off cycle, when I start a new cycle etc. But what is the norm? When do you guys usually finish up on the prevents?

I'm also really interested in all the magnesium stuff that some of you are using, do you use that year-round?

Just as an aside, I'm really, REALLY peeved at the moment with work. They want to send me to their contracted medical people for a "second opinion", because of all the sick leave I have been taking. F-ing morons. A part of me wants to set our union tigers loose on them now to rip their sorry asses to bits, but another part wants to just go all meek and mild, and play their stupid games. Go along to their appointments. Answer their stupid questions and give them the info they ask for, but no more. Consent to the release of the records from my doctors. See if they try to dispute the diagnosis of The Headache Specialist With Whom I Am In Love, and that I have had months of agonising pain, multiple times a day, that until last Tuesday's diagnosis (or at least, until my friend stole the oxygen tank 3 weeks ago) I had absolutely no relief from. Argue with the MRI results that clearly show I had Optic Neuritis and the stats that show I am a very high probability of developing Multiple Sclerosis and that all the time I had off work for tests etc was justified.

And then watch them fall flat on their faces when they realise that I probably should have had MORE time off work than I did, because for much of the time that I WASN'T taking sick leave, I was walking around in terrible pain, my mind affected by very strong painkillers that were doing nothing making me drowsy.

Then I'll just make a workers comp claim and take 6 months off on stress leave hahahahaha

Oh I love working in government.
