My yearly cycle just began last night and im shooting Imitrex and breathing O2 all night long. This shorten the time of the attacks from 2 hours to about 30 minutes, but still ruins my beauty sleep.

Since i knew my cycle was about to begin i went to the National Researchcenter of Headaches here in Norway last week to get my Imitrex and a new bottle of O2.

My doctor there said something that i really cant get out of my head:
"If you feel that the shots and the O2 doesnt work you should come back, cause then we got something that will take the pain away in seconds"

He wouldnt say what it was, so im wondering if it is some kind of really heavy drug. Does any of u know?

Honestly, my first reaction? It's crap. But what do I know? If you're desperate enough find out and let us know. BTW, what flow rate and what kind of O2 equipment are you using? lance

I can't imagine what he's suggesting, I'm always watching for that silver bullet to "cure" these damned things and haven't heard of anything new.

30 minutes is a long time for an abort using oxygen. We've learned a lot in just the last few years about how to improve the "oxygen experience" reducing the abort times to less then 10 minutes, many closer to 5.

A high flow rate regulator, minimum 15 LPM, preferably 25 or better. A Non Re Breather Mask, get on it as soon as you feel the attack coming on, the goal is to hyper ventilate with the 02.

If he has something else that will take the pain away in seconds what in the Sam Hill is he prescribing the other stuff for?  The only thing that I know that will take the pain away in seconds is permanent and you DON'T WANT TO GO THERE!!!
