Down side they're still sticking with just 6 mg shots, good news is the competition might drive the cost down a whsiker!

What is the down side to the 6mg shot?  Pardon my ignorance?

Many sufferers have found that 2-3 mg is all it takes to abort a CH. Some have gone to the vials which allows them to measure out just 2-3 mg per hit. Others who use the stat dose use the "Imitrex Tip" you can read about on the left, shows you how to break  a stat dose down to up to 3 doses instead of just one by breaking it open and using a q-tip! Not for those shy of needles but a life saver for those whose insurance covers only so many shots.

I have a generic 4mg shot.  Wish it were only 2mg, though.

Joe:

I've used the 6mg vials for years now.  Was looking for the
down side. As I get 3 - 4 uses from 1 vial depending on
strength of the beast.   :D  Wouldn't one just get fewer out of a 4?
Sorry to be so dumb but I'm on plenty of Dopey-2-the-max remember.

I use as little as I can to kill the sucker! 2mg or less.

Good point, it would just be nice if they'd do a stat dose with 2 mg so you could autoinject without the imitrex tip! I don't think I could do the q-tip thing with an exposed needle!!!

What about the vials?  The dam auto injector needle is the
size of a roofing nail!  With the vials I use just as much as I want.

But if needles aren't your thing I have a solution for all of you.

Get 3 kits and shorten the plunger in 2 of the pens.

#1 Kit you would modify the plunger to only inject 2ml

#3 Kit no modification

Now you could carry 3 pens and you would have 6 doses
from 1 of the 6mg stat dose kits.

All with no q-tip and no open needles

But the 31 gauge goes in so ez you don't even feel it.
The stat feels like a 8 guage!  :o

Glad I read this post...I didn't know they had come out with a generic version of trex yet.  Called my pharmacy and they have it.  Two questions:

1.)  Does anyone know if their insurance will allow for more shots with generic since pharmacist says for 2 shots it's about $100 cheaper?

2.)  Has anyone noticed a difference in the effectiveness between the generic and namebrand?

Thanks...I love this website!   :)

I haven't noticed any difference between the speed of the abort or the effectiveness of it between the original and now the generic. It's cheaper, but still expensive, I'm allowed 4 doses a month now, like others I tend to stock pile on and off cycle.
