Going on 32 years suffering from CH. First time prednisone has not worked in breaking the cluster. Verapamil never worked. Anybody had any success with Topamax?

I'm on Verap at 600mg and Topomax Dopo 125mg getting 1-2 a day.
also had 2 nerve bloc shots. was getting 7-8 so much better ;) Worth a try, unless you really need brain for work! :D Have a look at clusterbuster.com |

Some call it "Dopey Max" because of potential side effects, several on the board swear by it. Worth a trial run.

I'm already a little "dopey" so maybe now I'll have an excuse! Drank a glass of wine today to celebrate a birthday and NO headache! Felt like it was MY birthday. Trying melatonin tonight for the first time. Thanks for advise from the two of you on the topomax.

Oh, wine is a no no for most, now I don't drink so I have no
Idea if it triggers, but most say it does. Again good luck finding a solution. Peace. |

Don't sell the melatonin short if it doesn't work right away. Many people don't report success until they've been on it for up to a week. Keep at it! |

Ah, I long for a glass of wine!
I tried topamax for about three weeks and, as some have mentioned, I stared to get to the middle of a sentence and forget what I was saying. Not too cool in the workplace! As many have and will say, oxygen is an amazing abortive solution. Jim |

Yes I agree but abortive!
I want no pain! I would rather be a dope! I'm out of work at the moment and if I can forget that who cares. ;-)~ Just saying I would prefer not to have to abort rather not have one, cause even aborting can be really painful. But if you can deal with the pain, the side effects are much less with O2 no question. Everyone has the way that works best for them and are refining it to match changes in the times and their life. Doppie-to-the-max! One side I do Not like: I was learning how to play Guitar: Lost total interest over the last 4 weeks. Haven't touched it! Used to sit here playing for hours since not working. Hope it comes back. Anyone else have some sides like this? Have a great day, |
